Ok. With the rumours starting to come in about the Switch2 in 2024 . . .

What game(s) do you want to squeeze in before Switch 2?

I've got a bunch of games I started but haven't finished that I want to get back to. Like Super Mario Odyssey, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Yoshi's Crafted World, etc. LOL.

But there are games I haven't gotten yet that I'd like to give a go . . . like Metroid Dread and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

What's on your list of games to finish / get?

My list of unfinished Switch games is infinitely long. I really hope save states transfer to Switch 2 so that I can continue not finishing all my games without starting over.

Given that, I'm not really trying to finish any particular game before Switch 2, but I am working on 100% New Super Mario Brothers U Deluxe before Mario Wonder comes out.

I may attempt to finish BotW before Switch 2 comes out since it seems a bit embarrassing not finishing my first Switch 1 game before Switch 2 comes out. 😛

Whst to get all the bargain price games for €1 on eshop, before it closes.👍😁

@FishyS I do have a (personal & unsubstantiated) belief that a deluxe “HD” version of BoTW might be a Switch 2 launch title.

Purely based on the thought that it would make a lot of sense (& after playing BoTW and ToTK back and forth in recent months and seeing the small changes rather than the big ones).

Maybe worth waiting in case it does come to pass.

Right now my Switch backlog, excluding small downloadable titles, is relatively tidy. Luigi's Mansion 3, Metroid Prime and the Splatoon 2 single player Campaign. I'm probably not going to bother clearing Splatoon 2 so probably Luigi's Mansion next. I guess technically I also haven't gone through the Animal Crossing DLC but.... meh....

On the "downloadable titles" side. There are a lot here that I could also get on PC so I'm not so fussed about even if Nintendo's next hardware drops BC. But there are a few there I should probably go back and clear. Good Job and War Groove are probably the two I'd pick out of that batch. The former I should probably go for first given that, even though I haven't beaten it, I do have a lot of hours in War Groove

No games in particular, as I’m trusting that the Super Switch will have 100% backwards compatibility. It dang well better!

Now, I don't particularly care, because I'm not getting Switch 2 until 2025 anyway.

However, I do have a list of games I want to play in the next year and a half anyway (a lot of which are backlog):
-At least 2 more Doom games
-All three of the Megaman Zero sequels
-A Hat in Time
-Super Mario RPG remake
-Probably both of the big 2d co-op platformers coming out in October
-Probably the 2D Yooka Laylee game
-Omori
-Oxenfree 2
-Xenoblade Chronicles:DE
-Hopefully the new Samba De Amigo if its good
-One of the Wariowares
-Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania
-Dragon Ball FighterZ
-Battle for Neighborville: A Plants vs. Zombies story (that's not the title)
-Live a Live Remake
-At least one other JRPG
-Flinthook
-Golf Story
-At least some of the Kirby games
-Metroid Prime remaster
-Metroid Prime 4 (its still coming out on Switch, deal with it)

If rumours are to believed it’s like a year and half away so it seems early to worry about what games to try to fit in before release.

I still need to play Fire Emblem and Kid Bayonetta, I’ve got them sitting on the shelf waiting to be played.

@NintendoDad Ive been pretty decent at keeping the backlog of games that I actually intend to play relatively low on the Switch.

That being said there are a few still that I have to play before the Switch 2 arrives, namely:

-Metroid Prime Remaster
-Pikmin all 4 of them
-Bayonetta 3 & Origins
-No More Heroes 1,2 & 3
-Kirby and the forgotten land

and thats it, compared to my other consoles with the backlog in the 100s im pretty proud of myself at having just over 10 left to play

My list isn't huge, but every game on here is definitely one I want to play before the next console at some point:

Pikmin 4
Paper Mario Origami King
Link's Awakening Remake

Ok. I'm having to look some of these games up. I'm thinking there may be a chance my list is going to get bigger. LOL.

I like the idea of checking out the cheaper games as well!

I've got Links Awakening as a download on my 2DS, but the Switch version looks more flashy. Does it play a lot different?

@Teksetter Same here, I'm really hoping it'll have backwards compatibility as well.

Having said that, I generally wait a year after launch before picking up a new console, just so a decent catelog of games can be built up first.

I'm not too concerned because I'm sure the next console will be backwards compatible, and if it's not I'll just keep playing my Switch (and I don't know if I'll get it at launch anyway). But I should probably get round to playing Ni no Kuni and Starlink since I bought them ages ago and haven't played them at all yet.

The Switch version is mostly the exact same game but they modernized the art and music, improved some of the enemies slightly, added a couple quality-of-life features, added some collectibles, and they added a whole optional dungeon-maker aspect although I never really messed with it personally.

I have a backlog that'll take me into my retirement and I probably still won't have caught up.

Fantasy Life is the one series I'm happy to see to have not be left on 3DS.

There's little doubt Fantasy Life i will be my favorite game of 2023.

A few games like Fire Emblem Engage and Xenoblade Trilogy. But I don't want to get a Switch 2 from the start. I'll wait for Lite version or games that I'll be interested.

Octopath Traveler, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution, and Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu. I’ll like to get Octopath Traveler II, and Digimon World: Next Order, and Dragon Quest: Treasures.

Yeah. So many games for the Switch. LOL. Not like me waiting for games for our Wii U. LOL. It seems almost like a chore to try to figure out what game to play next on the Switch . . . with its so many games. LOL.

I am beginning to appreciate a short list. I am finding if I have too many games that I am trying to play . . . I never get anywhere with any of the games. LOL. So I've been trying to pick 2-3 games to focus on for a bit. It worked with Metroid Samus Returns for me. I just kept hacking away at it. Now that I finished it I'm ready for another game.

RE: Mario Sunshine . . . I actually have that game for my Game Cube and never finished it. LOL. I have been finding I've been spoiled with the portability of our DS / 2DS / Switch that I prefer to play on portable devices.

RE: Mario + Rabbids games . . . I finished the 1st game. I enjoyed it a lot. I just couldn't put it down. The only reason I haven't picked up the 2nd game yet is because I had too much cleaning up around the house I needed to do. I figured if I got the 2nd game, I wouldn't get any of the cleaning up around the house done. LOL. Enjoy those games.

I've started taking a wait and see perspective . . . having been a Wii U owner. LOL. But if it is good, I will eventually break down and get it.

I'm kinda hoping that the Switch 2 has backward compatibility of some sort. Then my kids can play the Switch 2 with their old and new games. And I might finally get some more Switch time myself . . . rather than being relegated to the 2DS / DS most of the time. LOL.
