Not just Nintendo Switch games whether its regular games or eshop junk, but also game for Playstation 3/4 and Nintendo 3DS games.

What games are you ok with in your comfort zone where youre comfortable with playing?

I know personally that I just dont want to touch eshop junk stuff. Period or copycat knockoffs like Bloodstained which theyre just trying to copy Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

Any games that caught my attention, whether they are regular games or shovelwares in physical, i will buy and play them.

@urrutiap It's odd you're complaining about eshop junk and copycat knockoffs considering how vigorously you were defending Taxi Chaos which falls under the copycat category.

Most of the games I play are from Nintendo, but if a game is good and I really dig its genre, I won't turn it down regardless of what company made it. I typically play platformers and adventure games, but I like RPGs, racing games, and puzzle games as well.

@urrutiap Just in case you didn't know, the development of Bloodstained was led by Koji Igarashi, who was one of the producers of the Castlevania series before he left Konami. Bloodstained is more of a spiritual successor to Castlevania.

Gameplay > graphics, forever and always. As long as the game runs well (240p 20fps seems to be my breaking point, lol) I'll give the game at least a try. That said, there are certain genres I play much less than others. Sim racing, 4X, flight simulation, RTS, etc. Those games that are best played with a mouse and keyboard, HOTAS, or a full fledged racing rig.

Unfortunately, I'm not a PC gamer.

I'll admit that the "vibe" of a lot of Indies (particularly western ones) really puts me off, and I'm not talking about technical quality. I can't really put my finger on it, but there's just a vibe around games like Aztech, Route 96, OlliOllie World, Never Yield, & the Longing (just some examples from the recent Indie World) that I just don't care for. Maybe it's a certain level of "Hipster"-ness, lol (I dunno).

That's not to say I don't enjoy some Indies, but I tend to gravitate to stuff that's more from what I like to call "A" developers. I'm talking about Inti Creates output (stuff like Bloodstained, Mighty Gunvolt Burst, & Master Blaster Zero), & the Shantae series. Back to the recent Indie World, it's titles like the House of the Dead remake, the new Ninja Turtles game, or that ancient Japanese Konami game (though the procedurally generated levels are a bit of a turn off) which are of the most interest to myself. I don't think it's a coincidence that those titles are stretching what I'd call "indie" either.

After all that I don't think it'd be a surprise to anyone to know that I'm much more interested in "proper" games (whatever that means) from known entities, even if they're ports from a few generations ago. I really got into gaming during the PS2/GCN/Xbox generation, but didn't have the money to play half of everything I heard about at the time, so I take great pleasure in finally playing games like Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Star Wars: Republic Commando, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, Super Mario Sunshine, Katamari Damacy (alongside some old favorites like FFX, Okami, & Super Mario Galaxy) between all the big new releases.

But hey, I did enjoy A Short Hike, so what do I know?

This is exactly a sentence I would say as a joke omg.

I try to go for as much variety as reasonably possible, but I do tend to gravitate towards 2d platformers or the like. Games in general that seem immediately fun.

Honestly, I'd take anything that's not just crappy shovelware or a gory mess. However, I'm not really interested in shooter games.

Then you have the games which are sad attempts at live service games, where in which they're purposely low on content in order to either sell that said content back to you, or patch it in for free, making me slowly lose interest in the game itself..

I do have a guilty pleasure of browsing the many switch games on sale just to see what kind of shovelware is on the system. If a game looks especially bad I'll look for a trailer to watch. Good fun.

I don't buy much these days unless I know there's a good chance I'll like it. Even then, time is finite and I can't devote hours to Final Fantasy, Fallout, etc.. So while I may like those games, I will avoid things that feel like time sinks. It's this reason that's kept me from playing Skyrim. I suppose if a game appeals to me I don't really care what its prestige is, just that it's practical for me to buy it.
