Hello I would like your help and knowledge about games to help me understand something that I normally think is impossible.

It's been over a year that I've been playing at BOTW, that I do 100% and that I speedrun it for personal pleasure.

I recently introduced the game to my mother and she was immediately tempted to try it.

To be very honest with you and make you understand the misunderstanding of my situation I will go into the most important details that are not related to the game to begin with.

My mother is not very good with technology in general but has been a video game player for as long as I can remember especially when it comes to the Zelda license.

So she has no record of what I'm going to explain to you and not living with her I couldn't witness what she did.

Now let's talk about what she did in the game, she started normally following the directions of the game by speaking to the King of Hyrule then going to activate the tower of the Plateau of Prelude and then she went to recover the power of Magnesis to climb up the tower a second time, so far everything seems normal. She retraced her steps by going to the place where one meets the King of Hyrule for the first time and exploring without knowing where to go, she went towards the Stasis without even knowing that the sanctuary was there (she did not see it and therefore did not get it).

From here on my explanations are going to be more or less vague and approximate given that she did this in the last week and that her memories are not very clear (she even says she thinks she can't do what she did again).

So she passed the small precipice by dropping a tree to cross it, climbed the cliff leading to the Stasis, didn't see it and continued her exploration, she also clarified following my many questions that she had never spent any time in the snow zone and to quote her "I've never seen snow in the game yet. "

As you know around the Prelude Plateau until the "prologue" is finished a mist that kills us instantly surrounds the whole plateau, according to what she said and thanks to the areas I showed her when I called her and which she recognized immediately, she would have managed to reach Taobab Grassland.

Now I can only speculate about the path she's taken with the few unclear explanations she's been able to give me.

She will have to continue her journey through one of the following areas: Stalry Plateau, Yarna Valley, East Gerudo Mesa, Mount Nabooru, Koukot Plateau, Gerudo Canyon or Spectacle Rock.

She then got a message from the game saying that she would take damage due to the high heat and then died as she told me "in the sand".

The explanations are finished and I want to say that I myself have a lot of trouble conceiving what she was able to do in her game and do not understand by what miracle she would have succeeded, to clarify one last thing the console has never been modified and the games neither she bought them recently in a store and as I said her abilities and her knowledge with technology are really weak.

It's been several hours now that I've been trying ways and tricks to redo what she did and the fog around the Plateau is infallible, I don't understand how she could have reached the Gerudo lands like that by chance, someone would have an explanation for this phenomenon please?

@jbl_infinite If you can't warp back to the one shrine you said your mom got, I guess starting a new game is probably her best option. Re-playing the BOTW opening will probably benefit her. Just give her a heads up for Great Plateau that she will need to find old man, find four shrines, and part of the plateau will have snow. .....Or it might benefit her to get a bit more info, such as talk to old man & find four shrines, get paraglider from old man. When she gets the glider, pay attention when the game tells says to find Impa/kakariko village.

As you said, she's not very tech literate. I've seen that kids or people that aren't computer literate will tend to do things that a computer literate would person would not do. My 70+ year old dad does this; he screws up things that sometimes defy logic: screws up email formatting, inexplicably mess up desktop display settings, or mess things up on his smartphone. The things he does are thing's I cannot do on purpose, because I will navigate the menus & button presses with the knowledge of how they work.😆

Good luck

Last I heard, speedrunners weren't able to skip the plateau. Then again, that was years ago. I don't know if it still holds true.

I'd imagine the game would allow her to warp back to the beginning and finish off the initial questline, possibly even preventing her from leaving before finishing the quest like it should. It's worth trying at least.

It's its, not it's.

Yeah, there are ways to speed up the plateau, but you've still got to do all four shrines before you go to the castle and that's more than half the run.
