Topic: Sonic Frontiers

@RainbowGazelle It’s written by someone who rushed through the game in like a day and a half, it’s a vary unfair review.

I have also started one piece it’s gonna be one heck of a ride, with all the chapters that exist, but I have read watch and read Z, it’s time for one piece.

I sure do hope I enjoy it, tho im on chapter 55 and it’s amazing so far.

Figured this would be relevant here, but what does everyone think about the updates? The spin dash is a game changer for some of the platforming, and the extra story is extremely difficult but is also pretty satisfying imo. I’m only about halfway in, and I suspect that trying to 100 percent it is going to be a pain, but I’m having fun so far.

What do you guys think?

@JakedaArbok I played the extra story for about 15 mins or so before giving up. Amy just feels terribly janky to the point of me not enjoying myself.

Nothing lost, I guess. I did quite enjoy the main game for what it is.

Fair point, I’ve seen a lot of people criticize the game’s control, and honestly the main appeal for me is to get around the jank, but the controls are objectively bad.

@JakedaArbok Admittedly, I haven’t gotten through most of The Final Horizon (mostly trying to complete Battle Rush, Arcade Mode, etc.), but when it comes to FH, I… actually really enjoy it.

I’ve heard that some of the later parts are gonna be more frustrating, so I’m preparing myself for that, but otherwise the new characters are really fun, I like that they give you the Spindash right before the first tower for Sonic, and the story seems to be taking an interesting turn with it being revealed that Big, the grind rails, springs, etc. are hallucinations/illusions that Sonic is seeing.

Knuckles sucks to play as tho. At least Cyknuckle is a neat concept?

Yeah, I think that Knuckles’ gliding ability itself is a nice concept, but you can get so much horizontal momentum with Sonic’s mid-air boost and the other characters’ increased jumps that Knuckles doesn’t do anything original. At least he isn’t awful to control on his own though.

It’s so odd that this update has gotten piled on by the fan base, it’s hard, but beating challenges feels fun to accomplish in the same way that some of the best platformers do.

Oh sweet mother of Chaos, the Master King Koco Trial is hard. For the other ones I had them on Hard at best and Easy at best, but even on Easy this is tough. Perfect Parry is definitely fun to pull off, don’t get me wrong, but if I take too much tome with Wyvern, or misaim one too many times against Giganto, then I’m screwed on the fight with Knight.

I’m right there with you atm, tried it once on hard, and that was a mistake. Even on easy, I can pretty reliably spam perfect parry on Giganto, but if you mess up more than one parry for Wyvern, you’ve lost the fight against Knight, and that’s 15 minutes down the drain. The fact that you have to complete the Wyvern segment in its entirety is not difficult after you play it enough, but the time it takes drains on you.

I did it. I actually did it. I beat The Final Horizon.

The last fight against the Supreme/The End amalgam or as most people call it, The Supreme End was phenomenal, it was exactly what I wanted in the base game made even better. And Super Sonic 2 (yeah, that’s the official title, and I love it) was awesome to play as.
