It's finally out! 3 free games and... pretty much all of the FX3 games still missing. I thought that all of the Zen originals and most of the Williams tables released earlier would be here day 1... Hopefully that changes! Is anyone still excited for this release and what might still be added? Which tables are you downloading asap?

Wait a minute, this is now out for Switch? checks eShop Well then color me surprised, I only thought I could play this on PC.

Give me that DreamWorks Pinball for that Trolls table! Tried it awhile back on PC and Trolls being my favorite series, I absolutely loved what they did for the table. Maybe whenever I can get around to it, currently saving for the upcoming movie.

I have Zen Pinball 3D on 3DS and Pinball FX's Guardians of the Galaxy pinball on Wii U, always loved what they come up with for pinball.

Haven't been keeping up with Zen since they kept going with the Williams stuff...it's fine I guess, but I like the tables that are completely original while based off of a TV show or series of some kind. I knew about the new FX but, eh...

Still hoping that one day we'll get tables for stuff like Rick and Morty, Futurama, or even some Nintendo stuff on the Switch version. TwT

EDIT: takes a look
Yeah, I'll keep an eye on it, they're still doing the Williams stuff but at least they're still doing the original tables, they just look way more interesting and fun compared to the ones based on real tables. >.< lol

I've bought (and re-bought) all the tables since the Wii U, but I was turned off when I heard the FX3 tables wouldn't carry over to this. Are they still pitching a subscription model, where you don't own any tables but can pay a monthly fee to access them?

I feel like the marketing on this one could have been better.

Unfortunately this is a massive disappointment compared to Pinball FX3. It is really blurry in handheld/tabletop/TATE mode, whereas the FX3 and Star Wars tables were sharp and detailed. Going back and forth between Fish Tales on the two really shows the downgrade.

Looks like the move to a new engine wasn't the best fit for Switch. Hopefully they can patch it.

Honestly FX looked like a downgrade compared to FX3, not to mention the confusing title! I played a little bit of Fishtales and it seemed to perform ok (didn’t feel laggy, but there were some weird stutters here and there). I haven’t flipped the tv to try in taté mode yet, but hopefully it still plays decent.

What I am not thrilled about is the prospect of re-buying all the same tables, on the same platform, by the same publisher. I own all of the Williams pins on FX3, but no way am I going to purchase these again on FX unless they perform better and have a serious discount. Maybe on the Super Switch, but not now.

Another thing - I like how FX has new licensed pins like Peanuts and Garfield, but it seems they’ll annoy me somewhat like E.T., Jaws, and some other licensed pins on FX3: the gameplay is fine, they have authentic licensed visuals, but they have generic music and voice call outs which really detracts from the experience. I wish they would do the properties justice and invest in adding authentic audio. I would be willing to pay more for them!

That being said, Addams Family looks like an accurate sim of the beloved Bally table, and isn’t on FX3. I might be tempted to buy that…

I fired it up on the ps5 and it seems to have the sharpness and colour back(fx on the ps5 looks as good as fx3 on the switch). I played fx and fx3 back to back on the switch and its clear to see fx on the switch is busted. I even took screenshots and its easy to see something is wrong.

It's weird because Zen on their announcement video stated 720p res in handheld but it looks like it's way lower and upscaled.

I already have all the FX3 tables and a large chunk of the FX tables on Xbox. I am not buying anything again on Switch in this state. Physics also seem a bit wonky, saw some problems with balls repeatedly draining over and over to the same pattern in the same places.

Wait for a sale on the tables and hopefully a patch.

If anyone is looking for some pinball action in the UK/EU then CDkeys has Star Wars Pinball for cheap https://www.cdkeys.com/star-wars-pinball-switch-eu

It's excellent and a bargain at that price.

I played soooo much Zen Pinball on Wii U, but this time around I got much more enjoyment from Zaccaria Pinball.

Zaccaria's cool and has some really innovative modes and features that Zen should steal/ implement. The Zaccaria tables and Magic Pixel's reimagined versions are a bit of a mixed bag though. Some are great but some are utterly awful. Performance on some of the more complex tables isn't the best either on Switch.

I love the art on the original tables, completely different vibe to other tables of the era.

Decided to treat myself to the DreamWorks pack. I only tried a trial of the Trolls table on PC, but sitting down with it, I'm genuinely impressed with the amount of care and detail put into this table. So much, I decided to play on practice mode just to check it out.

In the Trolls movie, the Trolls have something called "hug time," where they hug every hour. I really like how they incorporated "hug time" as a multi-ball function. Poppy picks up the ball, hugs it, put it in her hair, and then when it's multi-ball time, she throws them out on the board.

I also like how the spider creature pops out, and you have to defeat it, which was inspired by something Branch did in the movie. Interesting challenge as you have to hit it with the ball, then roll up the ramp to "feed" it the ball. Provided some challenge.

All of the quotes come from both movies, even Poppy singing "let me hear you sing," even Cloud Guy is there throwing a few jokes. Even the visual details are gorgeous and features visuals from both movies. I was surprised when the musical strings from Trolls World Tour appeared as a bonus. As a fan I'm loving every moment of this table.

Mostly got this for the Trolls table, I did like Kung Fu Panda, and looking forward to trying that table too. As a Trolls fan, I'm very happy with what they did for this table.

I got it on Xbox… tables are pretty good, but the interface sucks.

I haven't really followed any of these pinball games since Zen first bought the Williams/Bally rights and there was some discourse over them censoring the real world tables (covering the mermaid's midriff on Fish Tales, I think removing some alcohol references, etc.) because it would bump up the rating from "E" to "T" and they either couldn't do so (due to agreements with their other licenses like the Disney owned stuff) or just didn't want to for some reason.

Given that this is apparently a "new" game (and thus they probably would have had to rework their licensing deals & get it re-rated), are those edits still in place?

EDIT: Looks like things might be uncensored now. I was looking at a Reddit thread about the visual quality of this new FX compared to FX3 (comparing Fish Tales), and the fisherman has his cigar back in FX (while it's missing in FX3). Not only that, but the game is rated "T", so those are some good signs.

@Ironcore Switch, I happened to pick up an eShop card while I was out yesterday.

@RR529 I noticed on Cirqus Voltaire that the covered up cleavage on FX3 has been restored.

The Addams Family doesn't have Christopher Lloyd's likeness due to licence reasons but I think this was also the case in The Pinball Arcade version.

I'm not exactly in a huge rush to re-download tables that probably look better in FX3, based off of Fish Tales and Sorcerer's Lair, but is there any word on when the rest of the tables that everyone else has will be populated onto the Switch? Also, I still can't believe I have Indiana Jones on my wishlist because it won't go beneath 15 bucks, STILL. :/

Also also, thank goodness most, if not possibly all, of those draconian graphical edits have been undone for the new FX.

So, the studio has confirmed they are working on trying to improve the graphics.

Nitter link because actual Twitter is still a dumpster fire.

Zen, to their credit, eventually improved FX3 after it launched running at 30 FPS. Took some pushback after they originally shrugged their shoulders though.

Hopefully some patches are coming soon.

Ended up getting this on PS5.

So far I've only played Fish Tales, Whirlwind, & Garfield.

I've done okay on Fish Tales but not great (max score about 44,000,000). Still nice to play though as you can keep your ball in play for a decent amount of time.

Whirlwind is brutal but I kinda like it. Didn't think I was doing that hot on it, but with a max score of a little over 6,000,000 putting me just outside of the top 100 scores on the all time chart it just seems like a hard table in general (I actually got over 8,000,000 once, but the game was having trouble connecting to the network so it didn't get recorded to the leaderboards).

I don't know if I'm just kinda doing something wrong, but so far Garfield has been the big disappointment. There are just so many ramps tightly bunched together that it feels kinda impossible to reliably target one in particular, which is a shame since the table doesn't seem to have much else going on, requiring you to hit a specific ramp multiple times in order to start an event (such as one where lasagna slices are randomly thrown out across the table). I usually just wing it and hope I can keep the ball alive long enough to trigger something.

Next purchase will definitely be Bride of Pinbot. I absolutely loved that one back on Pinball Arcade.
