Topic: Official ACA Neo Geo Review Wish List

Hey everyone,

I've seen some users asking why we haven't been keeping on top of all the ACA Neo Geo reviews, and the short answer is that they've been slipping through the cracks as we've been keeping our attention on larger releases. It's my understanding that there is, of course, still a community for these retro re-releases, so I've opted to create this thread where we can hear from you guys about the games that you want us to review.

I can't promise that we'll get to everything, but this way, we can have a better understanding of the content that you guys want to be reading and prioritize the review order accordingly. This'll be something of an experiment, but consider the thread a living document where you can discuss the ACA games you're most excited about and why. As for the games that we've missed, let us know which ones you'd like us to give a look. I'll do my best to check up on this thread and keep you updated from time to time on our plans.

@SwitchVogel Because of how frequently these release, I think you should do multiple Neo Geo reviews in one article, so they don't all clutter the home page.

An ACA review thread would be great.

I'd imagine there are people within the NL community who would be able to write reviews or even do video reviews of these releases? Either way, I'd like to see them get covered as best as possible. The Arcade releases on Switch are among my favourite aspects of the console.

Glad to see this forum. Had a great conversation about beat em ups under the Renegade article yesterday, but I ended up feeling kind of bad because it probably disrupted the natural flow of conversation about Renegade. It seems to me like NL does a pretty good job keeping up with ACA reviews, but more is always better! I’ll check the eShop this evening to see if there’s something of interest that hasn’t been reviewed. Thanks Mitch.

Ah, a Neo Geo thread. Just HAD to click on the link...

So.... where's that wish list at, then?

Review wish list:

All of them
All of the games.

Quite frankly, anything else is unacceptable.

The End.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

Money Puzzle Exchanger is coming up soon. An interesting twist on the Magical Drop formula.

Rather than outright reviews of individual titles, I'd be more interested in comparisons, or genre overviews, so we know better whether to buy Garou or KoF '98, Metal Slug or Metal Slug 3, Last Blade or Samurai Shodown II - that kind of thing.

Fundamentally, I want a World Cup of Neo Geo titles, or at least the fighters. A semi-final lineup of KoF 98, Samurai Shodown II, Last Blade and Garou would be pretty tasty. But can Waku Waku 7 sneak in? What about KoF 96? Do we throw the beat 'em-ups into the mix as a wildcard?

@SwitchVogel We need a Renegade review stat! Such an important game and I'm sure folk would like to know if the Kunio-kun version is included in the western release.

@GrailUK But in the wrong thread nonetheless...
(No offense, obviously. Just wondered why you posted it where it doesn't belong)

@ThanosReXXX I just thought ACA refers to Arcade Archives, and that there would be no harm no foul asking for a review of a current ACA game that has multiple versions and could do with addressing. I see Arcade Archives and ACA Neo Geo as one big happy family. Arcade games

@GrailUK Fair enough, but the title of the thread should contain enough hints to the what's what...

As for that review you wished for: seeing as they already posted the news article on Renegade last Monday,
a review will more than likely follow as soon as they get their copy in.

P.S.

Better direct your question to @Shiryu, seeing as he is the resident retro gamer/reviewer.

ALL OF THIS. There are, frankly, too many games in these series, and it's hard to tell which ones deserve my download dollars. I don't want to play every KOF and every Samurai Shodown, I would love a guide to the whole group that might help me figure out which one or two I'm probably going to enjoy most.
