Topic: New NSMB Games? (Concepts)

@AwesomEli There's speculation that Bowser might be playable in Bowser's Fury (if they wanted to add a playable character to 3D World, who else would it be?), although that is a 3D game and not a 2D game.

@Bolt_Strike I sure hope Bowser is playable in Bowser´s Fury! The only thing is, in the trailer it shows Mario waiting in front of a spiky Super Bell thing, which is pointing at Mario being the character. And while we´re on the topic, here´s what I think gameplay in BF is going to be like.

In the trailer it shows these cat gates, and after there´s one it looks like some sort of platforming challenge, then after another cat gate. Maybe BF is an exploring, free roam game like Odyssey with mini challenges that have a cat gate at the beginning and end of them. The challenge looked like something Bower would be too big to do, so that´s disappointing.

Mario stands in front of this spiky Super Bell shaped entrance, so maybe you have to complete a number of cat-gate challenges to unlock these ¨dungeons¨, were you fight a boss? It seems likely, but maybe Bowser will be the playable character. Either way, it looks great and I never owned the original 3D World anyway.

@AwesomEli "The" character? Who said anything about just one? You could start as Mario and unlock Bowser at a certain point.

I'm pretty sure "New Super Mario Bros" and "new ideas" are opposites lol.

It does bug me that there's been no real innovative or bold ideas for 2d Mario (unless you count Mario Maker's very existence) since 1994.

@Bolt_Strike Hmmmm. Actually, that´s a great idea, and I hope they do that! Seems like something Nintendo wouldn´t do though. Or maybe they´ll surprise us like they did with Odyssey!
Edit: I wonder what the title: Bowser´s Fury means.... Maybe he destroys the Mushroom Kingdom or something and turns it into the dark, abandoned island we see in the trailer? Seems a bit dark for Nintendo...

I really hope Nintendo is done with NSMB. I love 2D Mario games, but I would rather have a new game that's creative and has tons of new ideas instead of another NSMB. Maybe one with a unique artstyle like that one level in NSMBU, or one that uses the capture mechanic from Odyssey in 2d.

@Lindhardt Okay, one hiccup here. You´re saying that NSMB isn´t creative and that the series should end. Well, you kinda said that a level in NSMBU is creative. So, do you want the series to end, even though there´s some cool stuff mixed in there? Or should they make a new 2D Mario with every level like that one level with the cool artstyle? (Pretty sure that level is called Painted Swampland, by the way)

@AwesomEli That's one level though, when 99% of the levels are the same. In U at least the only unique levels I could think of are the Painted Swampland and level where everything is huge. I meant I would rather have a game that is constantly being creative like that instead of like, once every world.

@Lindhardt Okay, that´s a good point. But that Painted Swampland made me think of something. What if it´s a Mario Paint platformer where you use a magical paintbrush to draw platforms and destroy enemies? New Super Mario Paint Bros?

I came across this amazing NSMB style remix of the Mario Bros 2 theme and now I just want a NSMB game where you have to throw vegetables around and fight Birdo!

@Clyde_Radcliffe Yeah, somebody else mentioned that he wanted a SMB2 reboot with cartoony characters and such. There should be a game where you have all the classic Super Mario games remixed and in a NSMB style. Perhaps there could be minigames too?

I'd love a Sonic Generations style game with 3D re-workings of classic 2D levels and 2D versions of the 3D levels! Oh yeah, the mini-games in the 3DS Mario titles were amazing.

@Clyde_Radcliffe 3D versions of 2D levels and 2D versions of 3D levels... Now that´s an idea! Reminds me of that fangame called Super Mario 63. It was really fun! I can tottally see 2D versions of 3D levels but the other..? I don´t know. Although when you think about it, that means you can have a 3D Super Acorn! That would be cool!

@Clyde_Radcliffe Speaking of reworkings of classic levels, what if we had a VR Super Mario? There´s a VR Mario Kart that looks cool, but imagine Bob-omb Battlefield. In VR!!! Also, a VR Mario Maker would be amazing. Just think of the possibilities!
