Capcom have just announced they will bringing the Monster Hunter series to the Nintendo Switch, the first entry will be Monster Hunter XX. Anyone excited for it?
I was hoping to hear about MH 5 at E3, but I guess that'll have to wait for next year. This will probably end up as another spring or summer western release.
I'm excited to see how Nakarkos and the new guy look on Switch. Lao-Shan Lung too will probably look impressive, as no other boss battles are really on that kind of scale since like Shadow of the Colossus. Plus maybe I'll finally be able to see Seregios' animations against the color of the dunes.
@Joeynator3000 I'm totally into Gogmazios in HD! Capcom probably won't do it, and I feel like I've fought Dalamadur enough times, but I would absolutely love to see more of the third generation maps return. Deserted Island is the only one that came from Tri, and they marred it at that, so I would like to see Volcano 3rd return. That is probably my favorite map besides the Deserted Island.
..............Verdant Hills is still gonna look like crap isn't it...
@Haru17 Well the Misty Peaks is also 3rd generation, actually. (Portable 3rd)
My favorites are the Sandy Plains, Flooded Forest (minus the underwater parts, lol), and Volcano. I would say Tundra, but I already love Frozen Seaway more. xp
I'm excited to see how Nakarkos and the new guy look on Switch..
Oh yeah! I forgot about her, GIANT ROBOT FIGHT! xD
Watched Gajin's video on her and he's just saying how it would've been awesome seeing her on the Switch in HD. lol and yeah, Ka is a girl, lol
Never have been a MH fan before but Zelda and Horizon 'cured' my fear of killing digital animals so let's get hunting! Already tried out MHUltimate and will play it once I get down with Nier Automata. So this is big news for me, the Switch giving MH's popularity in Japan and will probably be a better indicator for Capcom to look at how well their Switch game(s) sell, not USF2.
@Joeynator3000 Yeah, I meant that the Deserted Island is the only returning map from Monster Hunter Tri on Wii.
@GoldenGamer88 The quote about Capcom measuring Switch development based on how Street Fighter 2 did was fake. A mistranslation spread by poor reporting. Visit GaijinHunter's Twitter today if you want to read a correction.
Well, I can sort of understand the relative lack of 3rd gen maps, due to most of them overlapping with existing 2nd or 1st gen maps. Capcom probably picked those instead due to the Nintendo audience likely not having had prior experience with them and/or figures they are more popular with the hardcore Monster Hunter crowd. The main thing I'll miss about them is the music.
Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

@KirbyTheVampire There's going to be more details revealed on the 27th and I assume footage as it's a live stream on Youtube.Maybe there will be an announcement of a Western release then.
@Haru17 I know, meant IF Capcom was to judge future games's probable success on one of their titles, it should be this and not some overpriced 90s game.

@Joeynator3000 That doesn't look like something that's ready for release. I think they'd update effects like that literal spherical fireball and the Rathalos model in general. Obviously it won't be as nice-looking as a new game developed with assets that have the Switch in mind (it'll probably also be on 3DS), but I very much doubt it's just a simple upres. Capcom goes out of their way to make even the renders of their monsters look super snazzy.
I think a bunch of ground clutter would ruin Monster Hunter though. Or at least make careful positioning and watching animations 10 times harder.
The trailer is old, though, so it was probably an early build. But that definitely is not 3DS graphics, I know that much, lol
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think it was originally planned for the Wii U at the time.
Here's the temp box art. The Japanese release date and additions will be announced at tomorrow's event. 4Gamer reports that there will be new features above the 3DS version, but I wouldn't expect much above a new monster. It's likely they won't even be that substantial, but we'll see. The event will take place at noon JST, just under 24 hours from time of posting. Gaijinhunter will be live tweeting as well as posting a summary video later in the day on his YouTube.
