I wonder if FFXIII will release on the switch platform. Have not been able to find any mention of it, but has been the title I have long waited for. Haven’t t purchased it on any other platforms bc I have been waiting for it since it was rumored back in November 2020.

FF XIII was not the best Roman number Final Fantasy game.
The game was very linear, mostly you spent your 90% time in long corridor place and you couldn't revisit the places anymore except Gran Pulse at chapter 11.
Also, you cannot change the leader or any party member until chapter 11.
The game itself was hard, put you in anxiety by overleveled foes with gargantuan HP and you have to trigger Stagger percentage all the time. Not a relaxing gameplay.
Added by no money after battle, being rich in FF XIII was nearly impossible.

I personally not wanting FF XIII got ported to any consoles, the game itself was terrible. I have finished FF XIII PS3 version and still it was not a good RPG game compared by FF X/X-2 and previous series.
If you still want to play FF XIII, get PS3 version with cheaper price.

@Stonefox0989 The FFXIII trilogy hasn't been ported to any modern platforms, the only reason it's playable on XB1 and Series X|S is because of backwards compatibility for the original Xbox 360 versions. Square Enix would likely only port the trilogy to Switch if they were porting it to other platforms at the same time.

I've heard speculation but nothing concrete. I understand it sold really well when released but it has a bad reputation. That might hurt its chances if there's no clamour from people wanting to play it again. I don't know if its reputation is deserved. Gamers' opinions are often ridiculous and extreme and a bad rep has a tendency to snowball.

I'd love to see it on Switch, too, but it seems like one of those lost games that will only ever appear again after a lot of time has passed. Could be wrong of course.

Is that the first one with Lightning?

I somewhat enjoyed it on the 360. I know people trash it, and it's not nearly as bad as they say.

Right it was ridiculously hard and I mean it would be great if they could fix it up a bit in terms of the things people are complaining about, but between XIII/XIII -2 I just fell in love with those games. Lighting Returns was great too but it kinda strayed a bit I thought. It would just be nice if they would modernize it or remake it. 🤷🏻 It was just a thought. I own it on steam so I am sure it will be possible to play on the steam deck if I want to fork over all that cash for it.

Honestly, I'd like a shot at Final Fantasy XIII not because I've heard it (they?) is/are the best in the series, but because I'd like to form my own opinion. Some games vocal groups on the internet decry as "bad" are sometimes not. Case in point: I enjoyed my time with Metroid: Other M. Sure, I consider it one of the weaker Metroid games and does have some issues, but it does, at its core, still feel like a Metroid title.

@Snaplocket
FF XIII was not a fun to play Final Fantasy games after i have been through the pain in chapter 11 - 13. It put me in anxiety for gargantuan HP foes almost everywhere. Compared with previous FF games, i still thought FF X/X-2 , FF VIII, FF IX, FF XII are more enjoyable to play than FF XIII.

Yeah, personally I had no complaints myself. It was at times kinda difficult. But once you get the battle mechanics down, super easy thanks to staggering. On XIII/ 1 that is. The 2nd one was my absolute favorite. I love Serah’s kind and courageous personality. Not to mention it’s so sad through out the series. It just grabbed me by the heart. I tend to go against the grain when it comes to group opinions. Especially in the negative.

I'd love Final Fantasy XIII on modern consoles, especially Switch. If Final Fantasy XII can run on it then XIII sure as hell can. Just not with a 13GB download like with Final Fantasy X/X-2.

I heard it wasn't great, but I'd probably get it anyways, given that I aim to eventually play every Final Fantasy game one day.

@Stonefox0989 I doubt it will get ported outside of the platforms it's currently in. If you have a work laptop you can get it on Steam to check it out as it goes dirt cheap often on sales. It's not very demanding since the areas are mostly linear corridors and you should get it to run decently even on a low spec machine.

@Anti-Matter This, and add the fact that it doesn't have any towns to explore makes you question if it's really a Final Fantasy game. It's one heck of a weird dungeon crawler that badly needs a lot of QoL. The atmosphere reminds me of the movie Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which doesn't have much to do with Final Fantasy either.

I played FF 13 on my PS3, got to one of the bosses and just was unable to beat him, dont think I even got that far, was a summon I think just before a bridge.
I kind of liked the storyline, it was interesting

@Grumblevolcano This isn’t 100% considering that two of them were recently made available for Cloud Streaming via X-Box Game Pass for PC. Seems like they have some kinda plan for them if they made them cloud enabled.

@faint The reason it's available that way is because the 360 versions are part of backwards compatibility on XB1 and Series X|S. xCloud is on Series X servers and the backwards compatibility program for XB1/Series X|S is why 360 games can be added to the service.

XIII is my third favorite game in the mainline series (behind IV and VI), so I'd love for this happen.

It just feels like S-E doesn't care...enough to bring this game forward to current platforms, aside from PC.

And on PC it has a chunky file size, over 60GB.
