Here it is gents... The big one. Dragon’s mother freaking Dogma is coming to the Nintendo Switch!

If you haven’t heard, ask somebody. Yes, this is a game you should be very excited for. The best comparison I’ve seen made has been Dark Souls mixed with Skyrim, with Monster Hunter style combat and an element of Shadow of the Colossus...

Game. Of. Dreams.

Not nearly, but it’ll have to suffice

There’s sooooo much awesome stuff to show off in this game. Like, how Zelda BotW had 10,000 different videos of all kinds of awesome stuff from shield surfing to lightning storms, bosses, exploding bokoblin bases, etc. And this game has exponentially more than Zelda.

Would love to find one that shows off the lion with a snake’s tail, but that bottom gif was the only one I could find.

I hope video capture is enabled for this one. Dragon’s Dogma is gonna be a gold mine.

Gotta say I love the enthusiasm. I only knew one other person that played this. I adore the mythology of this game and I always found the combat to be mostly fair and I do admit it was the first game to actually make me nervous about having my character outside the city gates at night. Since I have yet to beat dark arisen (final boss was destroying me) I am looking looking forward to a rematch. Wish I had acess to my old pawn though.

Comen on!... its a good game just not ay”OMG GOAT” games. Even when it was released it was just meh to good. It has a repetitive quest design, bland environment until you get to the end part of the game, uninteresting characters and though the combat is good, by the time you get to the later part of the game fighting the same type of enemies because sooooo boring

Lastly: Gran Soren: the emptiest city to be named a capital

Screw that

This game is phenomenal. Never said it was GOAT- only a very select few games could even remotely be considered for GOAT, but it’s definitely one of my absolute favorites from the 7th gen.

The combat makes the game. Monster Hunter is one of my favorite games of all time (an actual GOAT) and to be honest this game offers a lot of the same thrills, but with so much more. It’s better than Skyrim, and Skyrim is beloved by an entire generation of gamers. It’s not GOAT, but I know quite a few people who would say it’s their favorite game they’ve ever played. And likewise for this. Like Skyrim, like MH, there might be a few people who are all “eh, it’s decent” but then you’ve got the people who love the heck out of it. It’s got a cult following for a reason.

I'm interested. I bought Skyrim but still haven't had the chance to complete it, but have heard good things about this game. In what parts is it better than Skyrim? I'd like to play a game where my choices matter to the world and the story. Would you recommend this?

@Escargot
Well for starters you don’t have to worry about horses randomly doing cartwheels into the atmosphere 😉

There’s also the combat. Combat combat combat makes a game, breaks a game. Skyrim combat was, unfortunately, very weak. Don’t get me wrong, I like that game. But I don’t think anyone is under the illusion the combat was very good. The motion controls for magic and archery helped tremendously in the Switch version though, I will give it that.

The combat in Dragon’s Dogma is much more akin to Monster Hunter or Dark Souls. And when combat is good the rest of the game built around it is good. The creatures/monsters are also insanely awesome. Granted, Skyrim had some awesome ones too. But Dragon’s Dogma... they’re just way cooler.

Anyone know how to preorder a physical if not living in the US? Stuck in Australia and it's not available.

Found the game ok - played on Xbox one. It was pretty archaic in design - boring fetch quests etc - not going to lie I was disappointed to the point I quit.

Then again handheld mode is such a game changer for me - I could see me buying this and giving it another go and potentially enjoying it.

Going to boot it up on the Xbox at the weekend and play some more.

Seems decent. Although I have the PS3 version, if this can be had at a reasonable price (a la £15 like Okami HD) then I could dip-dip.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

Will this get a European release?

And one expects them to eat Codes and live? Your asking them to be so cheap they can't make a living. This is what annoys me the most people whom have no clue the cost and labor it takes to make or even port games but then use pathetic lines oh if they sell cheap I will buy.

@SwitchForce Tell you what, if it makes you happier, I'm not gonna buy this game at all now. They can have none of my money, and I won't be able to spread any word of mouth about how good the Switch port is. Thanks for saving me some time and money. You sir, deserve some cake...

@SwitchForce Dude... While I agree with you on many topics, sometimes I think you need to chill a little bit. Step back and work on your social skills, and stop being so confrontational when you don't agree with someone. Otherwise you'll end up rubbing people the wrong way, which is totally unnecessary. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

On topic: @JaxonH I love your enthusiasm for this game. Although I never really have fallen for Monster Hunter (though I bought the latest one on Switch to give the series a new chance), I really enjoy both Dark Souls and Skyrim, so this sounds like a game for me. If it gets a physical release here in Europe, I'll get onboard day one.

Can always import from Amazon US. It’s super cheap too.

@Quarth
Me and this game have a history. When I first discovered this game when my bro told me about it, I was taken aback. I had no idea Capcom had made an HD game with similar aspects to Monster Hunter (at the time, MH was releasing on 3DS, and the only HD Monster Hunter to date in the west had been MH3U on Wii U). So it immediately grabbed my attention. What made it so interesting though is that it was actually a Skyrim-like RPG, but with that sweet, sweet combat I love so much. It’s not quite as good as MH combat. MH combat is fine tuned to utter perfection. But it’s in the ballpark. Can sever tails, break horns, all that jazz. And it’s got a lot of cool stuff MH didn’t have like climbing on monsters Shadow of the Colossus style and attacking.

What makes this game so great really is the combat, and the cool enemies and monsters in the world. You might hear some comparisons made from others to Skyrim and Dark Souls, and many will attest the story and world isn’t quite on the level of those games. And... I won’t necessarily argue with that. But. When the combat is this fun, everything else is just a cherry on top. They really understand the “Nintendo approach”. Make the gameplay fun, and the game will be fun. Just based on the gameplay alone. Monster Hunter is a prime example of this. Story? Ha.... Character development and engaging dialog? Ha ha... but the gameplay hook is fire. And thats all anyone cares about. So when you also throw a decent story in there, a pretty cool world with some rad enemies, it just makes it that much more awesome.

It’s not a perfect game but, I can tell you I’d rather play this than Skyrim or even Dark Souls. Although, I’ve heard it said that if they ever made a game that married the story/world of Skyrim with the combat/gameplay of Dragon’s Dogma, you’d never wanna play another game in your life. And while that statement may be hyperbole, there is some truth to the point being made, I believe.

@JaxonH Thanks for your comment! So at least there will be a US release, which sometimes means some Swedish online retailers will import it. I hope so! Otherwise I'll order it from Amazon myself.

@JaxonH Thanks for your comments, dude! They are really helpful to imagine, how this game actually plays. It is obvious you are a big fan, but you don't reject it's flaws. You have probably convinced me to try this game

@JaxonH Unfortunately Amazon US will no longer ship to Australia, with the launch of Amazon.com.au. Sucks to be one of us.

Ah Dragon's Dogma, that game is a masterpiece. I've played the hell out of it back when I had my PS3.
Hope they'll create a sequel for it one day, the lore & everything really about the game is superb.
