I promise not to abuse this but when you say (youtube:videoid), is the videoid the html of the vid?

I just tried quoting his message, and it showed: (youtube:pFlcqWQVVuU) -- except in brackets, not parentheses of course. So it's not the full url, though that might work, too.

i see: the videoid is likely the part of the html after the backslash.

I seem to recall seeing and using a few other formatting techniques in the past, but I can't remember them. Like the smiley with glasses, for example, and the text thing with the vertical line down the side to show that it's a quote.

I have recently figured out accidentally that if you put three hyphens together - - - (but without the spaces), you'll get a line break.
