I'm sure you know enough to pass judgement over american football from that 1 game a year. Crawl back into your soccer thread why don't ya, one of the most one-dimensional snoozefests there is. Or actually take time to watch a season of NFL, learn the rules, positions, tactics and stuff like clock management etc and then try again. Judging it while knowing nothing about it is what's silly.

Easy lad, you just woken up? I know all the rules having had them explained to me by my father when I was very young. It's a fun game, if you flick back through this thread you'll see I was enjoyed the match muchly.

Weird considering how the UK and other parts of the world are all pushing for NFL games to be played outside the US.

It must be so everyone realizes how boring it is compared to soccer, so the rest of the world stays content not having it.

The people making the money want the games to be played, the people who love football don't. It makes a big mess of our lovely pitches.

I'd love to see a live game of AFL not having to go too the US for it. But considering you can probably count the number of fans in Sweden with 1 hand that's not going to happen. I'm sure that if they showed it on TV at least more people would learn to love it as I do, but I'm reduced to torrents for my weekly fix during the season(sue me, it's not like I can get it any other way).

And Machu, my theory on why Soccer is so popular is probably that it's a cheap hobby, buy a kid a football and you'll have 1-22 guys able to play it. Try to pitch american football in Africa, South America or the poorer parts of Europe let's see how many parents are willing/able to cough up all you need for equipment(yearly if your kid is still growing). And soccer is easier to play as a hobby since all you need is just a couple friends(prefferably) not 20+(at least) per team that's needed for AFL..

Mind you it's just my theory on why it's so popular everywhere, because as a sport in and of itself it's nothing special, it's as basic as you can get, whereas AFL has so many more layers to it.

You find American Football interesting, I find it dull. You see football (soccer) as being one-dimensional, I see it as a form of art.

I've seen my share of soccer games, belonging in a group of friends who not only watch religiously but play as well it's hard not too, this world cup will be no different, and if it wasn't for the beer and company i'd avoid it. Thanks for reminding me _bastard
