RPGs definitely. There is something inherently satisfying about getting stronger and stronger to the point where enemies that used to give you trouble are now easy to defeat.
I don't think I could ever narrow it down to one specific style of game, but the genres that tend to have a heavier focus on story/characters (RPG's, visual novels, adventure games, etc.) are easily the ones that stick with me the most (see almost every 10/10 in my Games Collection/Backloggd page XD).

Platformers, both 2D and 3D. Whether it's Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Sonic, or whatever... I love a good platformer. I like action/adventure games too, and honestly, I also like racing games quite a bit.
I organized my games into 36 different genres using folders and almost all of them have a game I really like. That said, I have 68 games in my 2D platformer folder whereas some genre folders only have 2 games so 2D platformer definitely wins. 😝
Using a different metric, the 14 games I rated highest on Switch includes 5 2D platformers, 3 3D platformers, 2 JRPGs, 1 life sim, 1 rogue-lite, 1 comfy adventure game, and 1 Tetris.
I think stealth-puzzle is the genre people typically stick it in, with a side of sandbox.
I've also seen people add pseudo-genres that are about tone or setting rather than gameplay such as 'animal' and 'humour'.
If you tried to list all the stealth-puzzle-sandbox-humour-animal games I assume it would be a very short list and 90% of them would be trying to copy Untitled Goose Game.
Considering Super Metroid 3 is my all-time favorite game, I'll go with metroidvania.

@FishyS Oh man, I didn’t even know it was an argument. But I mean, it goes without saying it’s in the metroidvania genre, even though it’s simply a Metroid game, right?
