@I-U Yeah, I was in a similar boat. I hadn't bought a new console since PS2, Gamecube. So, when I got the Switch at launch with Breath of the Wild, it was so surreal & amazing, it was nuts. I'm not sure I'll ever have a new-gaming experience that will ever top that.
I bought Breath of the Wild in a small video game shop about half an hour before I bought the Switch in another small video game shop, this was last January. Haven't played BOTW yet though. With the console I purchased Mario Odyssey and Streets of Rage 4. Later that day I also bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in a supermarket, which is until now the Switch game in which I invested most time.
Since January 2021 owner of my first real Nintendo "home" console.
MK8 and ARMS. While simple and light on content, I ended up putting 50 hours into ARMS. Was my most played game for a few years until I finally pushed through to the end of BotW.

Mine was Mario Odyssey, and my goodness, what a game to make a first impression! I believe the one I got after that was Splatoon 2. I have poured several hours into both titles since then.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy (PC)
I bought it on launch weekend and I also picked up The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (naturally) and 1-2 Switch. Like the 3DS back in 2011, it was a peculiar experience using it for the first time as it was such an ambitious concept. I think my purchase also included a voucher for Just Dance 2017, which was fairly priced, and I picked that up too after a few days (more so for others to play as I'm too embarrassed to dance, even when alone).
I did buy a lot of games that I probably would not had been so eager to grab as the early months of the Switch were pretty rough, but the tide turned quickly by the end of the year, and the rest is history.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
I purchased the Switch for the first time back in 2018 together with BotW, Odyssey and Puyo Puyo Tetris. I played them all equally during those first few weeks, but Puyo Puyo was my very first one that I put into the console.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Basic answer I know, but it was quite possibly the perfect first game you could possibly ask for when it comes to the Switch: great fun in both single and multiplayer, tons of stuff to do, immediate active online space and a great excuse to use both Joy-Cons for local multiplayer. I played it almost non-stop for a couple of months back in 2018/19 but I haven't touched the game since.
....is what I WOULD be saying if they didn't out of the bloody blue announce they were doubling the track total with the Booster Course Pass, which was also available for free with the NSO EP. I'm back to playing it constantly now and loving every second of it, MK8D is brilliant.
Currently MIA for exams; see you all in a bit! o7

@Fizza I've been starting to play MK8D more often this year, as well. The BCP really got me back into it! I'm pretty anxious to see what courses the next wave will bring, lol.
My first game was Xenoblade 2, after playing the first game on the 3ds I couldn't wait for more of this series and I got it at the switch presentation.
Torna, and DE were welcomed bonuses that I also welcomed and enjoyed thoroughly and I will be doing the same for Xenoblade 3 and pour tons of hours into it.
