Topic: Should Sonic the Hedgehog divide into two alternate timelines?

Let me explain. When Eggman traveled back in time to when Sonic the Hedgehog was 10 years old to ruin the past (Sonic's 16 years old now because he celebrated his birthday in Sonic Generations) he opened up another dimension. After Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic defeated Eggman and the Time Eater, Classic Sonic went back to his dimension which is set in Modern Sonic's past, so that Classic Sonic can continue his adventures in his dimension which really happened in Modern Sonic's past already, but is yet to happen with the Classic Sonic from the dimension set in Modern Sonic's past.
So basically, there are two different dimensions in the Sonic universe now: one set in modern day, and one set in the past which is the present to all the people in that dimension. So after Sonic 4 Episode III is made to finish of the Sonic 4 story arc, why not divide Sonic's adventures into two separate timelines: the current Sonic who is currently a 16-year-old teenager, and the classic Sonic who is a 10-year-old kid? Modern Sonic's games can be 3D modern Sonic games (with some 2D sections in each level of course) and Classic Sonic's games can be completely 2D/2.5D platforming games.
For those who say this is a weird idea, The Legend of Zelda franchise does this too. In fact, there are 3 different timelines: the first timeline being Timeline A where Link fails to stop Ganon in Ocarina of Time, Timeline B is where Link goes back in time to continue his life as a child, and Timeline C starting from when Link defeated Ganon in Ocarina of Time and advanced and went back to be a child once again. Pretty confusing, huh?
I'm not saying the Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic timelines have to be as confusing, but I'm just saying, how about they use two different timelines: one with current Modern Sonic that takes place in actual present day, and one timeline with the kid Classic Sonic that take's place in Modern Sonic's past but in Classic Sonic's present? That way, Sega can please both fans of Classic Sonic and fans of Modern Sonic? What do you guys think? Please comment below.

Interesting idea... I doubt it'll happen but I wouldn't oppose it!

Yeah, I mean, it worked with the Zelda franchise so why wouldn't it work with the Sonic franchise! But alas, Sega said they do not plan on bringing back Classic Sonic, but this would be a really nice opportunity to extend the Sonic fan base! Plus it would be interesting to play games as my chubbier, shorter, mute and lighter-blue Classic Sonic with classic 2D platforming gameplay, as well as my slimmer, taller, chatty and darker-blue Modern Sonic in 3D platforming gameplay. Doing two separate timelines could really get Sonic back up to his roots for now and forever!

How about they make a sonic game that isn't deep in story, and just more creative in gameplay.
Make Sonic act more cartoony, then acting realistic.
Sonic should be more like Animaniacs

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I would like Sega to take a more cartoonish approach to Sonic as well. Sorta like classic Mickey Mouse or Animaniacs. More creative twists are welcome too, like maybe seasons changing in each level, travelling to different dimensions, teaming up with Eggman and his robots, playing as alternate versions of Sonic and stuff like that. However I still think separate timelines is a good idea.

A branching Sonic timeline? Does it need a timeline to enhance the franchise? And Sonic has been in plenty of games already, you are going to need some devoted people to make a linear branching timeline.

If they were to do that, then wound't it be just all the classic Sonic games, from Sonic The Hedgehog to Sonic R, but if they were to give Classic Sonic some new adventures, like pairing him up with Ristar, then that would be great.

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

Yes, that's exactly what I mean because there was a huge five year gap between Sonic 4 and Sonic Adventure. Here's my timeline:
Sonic 1 > Sonic CD (?) > Sonic 2 > Sonic 3 & Knuckles > Sonic 4 (?) > (all modern Sonic games starting with Sonic Adventure and onward)
I say a five year gap between Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic Adventure because Sonic was 10 years in Sonic 1, the Death Egg Saga, and Sonic CD, and Sonic was 15 years old in Sonic Adventure all the way up until Sonic Generations (he celebrated his 16th birthday in Sonic Generations; he's 16 in the games now but in real life his first game is nearly 22 years old). Sonic 4 may actually take place right before Sonic Adventure, though, because Modern Sonic was the star of Sonic 4 so the game may actually take place years after Sonic 1, the Death Egg saga, and Sonic CD, but that's just my theory. And Sonic CD didn't have Tails in it, so that may mean Sonic CD takes place before Sonic 2 because Sonic CD and Sonic 2 were being developed simultaneously. Once you beat Sonic CD, a screen saying See you Next Game shows an image of Tails, which may mean Sonic CD was originally supposed to be released before Sonic 2 and have a cliffhanger hinting at Sonic 2.
Anyways, there was a huge gap between the classic Sonic games and the modern Sonic games, and if history proves me right, it never tells me what happened in that five year gap between Sonic 3 & Knuckles or Sonic 4 and Sonic Adventure and all the other modern Sonic games. So, why not tell of more of classic Sonic's adventures before Sonic Adventure, because I doubt that nothing happened in that five year gap. So basically, lots of new adventures starring classic Sonic before Sonic Adventure and the other modern Sonic games happened.

Oh, I see what you mean now... I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about having Classic Sonic seperated from Modern Sonic in terms of time (two different timelines). Yeah, this seems like an OK idea...

Not sure if you're trolling or not, as I completely and utterly agree with this statement. :3
