My main problem comes from browsing eBay habitually nearly every morning and evening to see what's going at a good price.
I became a much poorer man (financially speaking) when I installed the eBay app on my mobile. Awful move. However, I've been self-imposing a monthly/yearly budget for games for a couple of years now (just entered the third year in a row, actually). Basically, I can't spend more than €240 a year. I try to see it on a €20 by €20, monthly basis, but if I want to spend €60 on a game I do it and then try to save up the following months.
So far it is working, not only I've been catching up with the backlog, but I have developed a much healthier relationship with games. Also, the books and records I buy have quadrupled, as if by magic!!
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

So, 4 days in, the hardest 4 days they say (somewhere, possibly), and I've held out, but temptation is creeping in.
I'm having to work very hard to resist the Oxenfree and Riptide Renegade sales on the eshop - I keep having to tell myself that those prices will come round again one day. Plus I keep getting sucked back to ebay cos I'm selling a few items at the moment, plus I keep getting alert emails for games I was on the look-out for.
This next week could be rocky.
Did I explicitly say sales were included or excluded from the ban?
I think I'll join OP on this one. It really is an issue with a lot of people. I'm like this with books too. I have no clue how deep my backlog is. I'm just messing around in Breath of the Wild on Switch right now, almost done. After that, I've decided I'm going to play Wolfenstein: The New Order on my PS4.
Hopefully being a part of a group of people that have this problem will maybe make this a little easier.
I've got Bayonetta on pre-order, but I haven't scratched the surface of Skyrim and I haven't played XC2 at all. At least if a game is on Switch or Vita I know that I'll get round to it eventually. I just bough Oxenfree. It was less than four quid. it doesn't really count.
So, 9 days in, and it's not been easy, but I'm still clean.
I did have a weak evening coupla days ago where I browsed eBay, and even bid on a game or two, but was controlled enough to only bid amounts that would have been bargains if I'd won, and got outbid.
Not even a third of the way through yet. But if I can make it to half way then I can start to think about what game I can get when I come out of rehab

@Tyranexx Not gonna happen. There are certain items on my list that if they crop up at below a certain threshold price, I'm having them, ban be ****ed.

@Octane Are they changing the controls in SotC or keeping them the same? I adored the game and was close to tears at the end but I remember the controls being a bit cumbersome, but forgivable because of what the game was doing. Not sure it gets that free pass in 2017.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@GrailUK Yeah, they built the game from scratch, including the controls. But I believe they added the option to switch to the old controls for those who prefer playing it the 'classic' way.
@Octane I wasn't particularly bothered about this latest SotC release, but if they've actually put some work into it and improved the control scheme then...
Not yet though, obvs.

@Octane I have to say, it's pretty weird that you didn't lock this thread and tell gcunit to carry on the conversation in some generic "other gaming" thread, since that's all this is and it could easily be merged into several of those threads. Guess you only do that on threads that you're not personally invested in.
For some reason, I completely gave up any resolve today, and the ban has been breached.
Technically, I breached it on Friday, because I'd decided Oxenfree's discount was too good to risk waiting for again (just over £2 from the Russian eshop), but I told myself that those sorts of sale prices were exempt from the ban.
But then this evening I've just collapsed. Bought Pikmin and Eledees (Wii versions), Batman: Arkham Origins (Wii U), and to top it off... Skyrim (Switch).
I'm going to have to mull it over now and decide where I go from here...
