@Snatcher don't know about you but absolutely loved the collection. Thought it was a perfect. Although I wouldn't have minded them also adding galaxy 2.
@TheJGG it was but it was also retailed nearly half the price. Came with a Mario music cd a history booklet. It was presented better and the box alone felt like a anniversary.
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
Thing is the 25th Anniversary Collection does look like a collectors item, far more so than 3D All Stars which didn't have a stell book case, fancy manual or anything extra.
@1UP_MARIO@MetalToad Yeah, the thirtieth was the best, thinking about it. Mario Maker was very uncharted territory for the Mario series as a whole and it was a resounding success. 35 was alright considering COVID but it’s bittersweet because of the limited time of availability.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
30th Mario was the best no argument there from me.
@MetalToad 2d all stars felt like a collection
3d all stars felt incomplete without galaxy 2. It even opens up the menu screen with galaxy 2s star tune

35th - 3D All Stars is limited time and missing Galaxy 2 (which is bad) but 35th anniversary also had 3D World + Bowser's Fury
25th - All Stars should really have been Wii VC with Galaxy 2 (the other 25th anniversary Mario game) getting the special physical treatment instead (think Skyward Sword for Zelda 25th)
30th - Mario Maker was a good game but 2015 was very much confirmation that Nintendo had given up on Wii U
@MetalToad That's kinda subjective since they are all driven by nostalgia more so than today's standards of gaming. Even then some people will argue Super Mario Bros 3 is better than Galaxy, Super Mario Bros 1 is more important than 64 to gaming etc so each to their own.
