Topic: Is GameFly a reliable service?

I keep seeing ads and promos for it, and it sounds neat and all, but no one I actually know uses it (then again, a good chunk of my friends are PC gamers).

I just wanna know more about it, as well as if it's a reliable service.

I had it for about a year (back between 2009-2011), and it worked fine for me. The only reason I no longer have it is because I don't currently have a job.

It works just like Netflix where you get a game(s) through the mail, and mail it back when you're done (no late fees or anything). It's all pre stamped, so you just have to put it back in it's packaging, and mail it back. Also, unlike Netflix, the games come in cardboard packaging, offering better protection (never recieved a damaged game).

If you want to keep a game for good, just go to your online que (where you set up your list of games you want to recieve), and click "Keep" on the title of the game(s) you currently have checked out. They'll mail you the game's box (with everything that comes with it, like CN codes), and the next game on your rental list. The (discounted) price of the game is simply added to your bill that month. I bought both NSMBWii & Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: the Crystal Bearers this way.

They offer both console & handheld games ( PS2, PS3, GCN, Wii, Xbox, 360, GBA, DS, 3DS, & PSP back when I was a member), and I think they even later started a program where all members could play a select range of PC games directly from their site for no additional cost.

Depends on what you want.

They do full retail games as a rental service.

Meaning you can't fully enjoy games like Smash, or Mario Kart which are games to be owned not rented. However for linear, story based games, the service is much cheaper than 60$ for a game you'll beat in a week.

@Pokefraker Not sure what you mean by that you can keep a game as long as you want.

@GuardianKing: I think its a wonderful service especially if you dont have much money for new games or end up keeping a game longer then a few days. I mean if you are like me who keeps the game for weeks then I suggest it but if you just want something for 2 days a month or so Redbox is a better choice. I am a current member of Gamefly and have been since 2010 I want to say and I have never had a complaint from them. I did get a few non working games from them but their customer service has always been nice and replaced the game right away for me. They gave me the choice if I wanted the exactly same game or a different one and one time they even gave me a $5 dollar off coupon to purchase a game for my troubles.

Speaking of coupons they also have a rewards program where depending on how long you have been a member you will receive discounts on games I think 5% off for six months and 10% for a year and every six months or so you get a $5 off coupon as well. I have bought a few games from them as well and I have never had a problem with the games I bought from them. The discs were scratch free, all the papers came with the box, I even got the CN code which worked fine. They also sell games new as well as take preorders for games too.

They cover the following systems

Gamecube, Gameboy Advance, Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, Vita, Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and they now carry DVDs and Blu-rays and have a digital PC service similar to Steam.

I love game fly and ive had really no troubles, except when big games come out and the delivery scheduling. Just try to start and end it on a nice schedule. Same with renting them out , pick a time that allows you to get the games preferably not over the weekends you'll be find. Plus they send random offers to rejoin for a dollar or 2 games at once for two months at the price of one. My channel should be proof enough 4k videos and i dont even own all those games.

This. If there are no late fees, or limit to how long you can keep it.. then what discourages people from just keeping it and never sending it back?

If it's a rental service don't you have to pay money each month to keep it?

EDIT: Nevermind I checked, and you can keep it for a cheaper price.

Yeah you pay a monthly fee to keep renting after awhile they send you an email asking if you are still playing it which if you tell them yes then they leave it at that. Now if you stop paying the monthly fee and don't return the game then they charge your credit card that is on file for the game.
