Topic: Ugh, what am I doing wrong?! (HeartGold)

It's Tuesday, meaning I'm able to do that double battle thing with my Rival against Lance and Clair. It's at the dragon's Den right? I went there about three times today (once in the morning, second time around noon-ish, and just went there a third time). I dunno what else I'm missing, I've been told that Red has to be defeated or something and that's already been taken care of, help meh! (hopefully before the day is up, don't feel like messing with the date and all that on my DS...>_>)

I found if you mess with the date a once a week event won't work like Monday Monica's and Pokeathelon prizes so don't do that. Other then that I can't help.

Are there any requirements after Red I'm missing? I've looked on GameFAQs and all the guides I've found didn't say anything about a certain time frame...so...I dunno...ugh. T_T

Did you mess with the date on your ds at all? Time-traveling on Animal Crossing, anything like that? That would mess it up, that's what ballkirby said.

You don't have to beat Red first, actually. I haven't fought Red yet but they appear. According to Serebii al you need is defeat your Rival on Mt. Moon.

...Mt. Moon is in HG? I never saw it, lol. And no I haven't messed with the DS's date ever since I bought HG...or since I had the DSi for that matter, lol.

Yup, looks like you just haven't beat him at Mt. Moon yet, that will get him to the cave.

Mt. Moon is in Kanto. If you haven't been to Kanto, you get there by taking the S.S.Aqua from Olivine City. Once you get there Mt. Moon is between Pewter City and Cerulean City. Beat your rival there and then it should work!

Hmm... That sounds kind of rude...

...That reminds me, how exactly does that SS Aqua work? I mean, I know how it works like you can only use it on certain days to one of the regions. But like, the battles on there...I decided to take it today but I wasn't able to battle any of the people there. How do you like..."reset" it or whatever, or is it a one-time only? (er, well two-time since there's the Johto to Kanto and then back...)

The battles and finding the little girl are one time only events. Once you do those it is only for transportation and doesn't look anywhere near as cool as the magnet train.

I was really disappointed by that! In the original Gold and Silver you could battle the trainers every time you went on it! That was how I did most of my training once I'd beaten all the Gym Leaders.

...That sucks, the SS Aqua is like...useless now. T_T

Wait, I remember fighting trainers every time I went on the S.S. Aqua, I'm sure it resets each trip. Mon/Fri it goes from Johto to Kanto and Wed/Sun it goes from Kanto to Johto, with different trainers on every ride.

Also, you can battle your rival mondays and wednesdays at the pokemon league.

I'm pretty sure I fought people on the SS more than twice as well...but tried going on it on a new week or whatever and couldn't battle them this time...

The trainers you can battle will be in the rooms on the bottom deck, maybe you have to do something first, but I don't think so. There should just be random (well, random from a certain assortment) trainers in the rooms.

Also, for every trip on the S.S. Aqua if you visit the captain he'll give you a random plate, so if you use Arceus a lot it could be useful.

Yea I know about the plate thing...then again I highly doubt I'll get Arceus anytime soon, lol.
