Topic: DSi Storage Solution Needed

With the release of Flipnote Studio yesterday I was presented with the message of not having enough space to download the application, so I went back to the DSi menu and deleted some of my games and downloaded Flipnote Studio. My point here is, if Nintendo wants us to buy their games they need to give people like me a way to play them off the SD card or something, because I cant deal with this for another 2 years! What do you think and has anybody had a similar problem or is it just me?

I bet they're going to increase SD card support like they did with the Wii

They will, it's just a question of when. It took 2 years for the Wii, you would think they learned their lesson by now.

Probably when they release a Virtual Console (whenever they do). And the storage problem for the Wii mainly came up after the release of WiiWare. I'm sure people downloaded many VC titles, but many of them took up 40 blocks or less.

The weirdest thing is they announced the Wii storage solution on the eve of the DSi launch... you'd think they would have included it in to make the DSi appeal even more, at least that would have been a smart move...

I know what you mean, I'll be out of space when I get PictoBits and FlipNote downloaded (can't get the 1.4 update yet). Thing is though, Nintendo is trying to restrict the SD use to prevent hackers (like Team Twiizers, who are famous for the Twilight Hack that was enabled from an SD save). I think the hackers will get into the DSi inevitably, it's just a matter of time. Sadly for the people who like to stay legal, buy all their games and such, they are getting the shaft here. Hackers are already close to homebrew in DSi mode even without an SD slot to base the hack off of. Nintendo is hurting the mainstream gamer more than pirates, though it's understandable that companies would pressure Nintendo because they don't want their games pirated.

Nintendo needs to get over the fact that homebrew is going to come to their console. It will come, and sooner than they think. They cant be afraid forever and keep trying to block that when it is impossible to do, they will never win. They need to be doing more for us than worrying about homebrew! After all we did buy their $170 console you think they could do a little more for us. Its not like they dont have the people to make this work!

and the storage solution they gave us for the Wii was really done half a$$-ed because you still have to have the space on the system to launch the game...

The DSi was released in November '08 though, a long while before the Wii's solution.

If you have at least 350 blocks on your Wii, you shouldn't have a problem. Nintendo was probably in a rush to get a solution out and this was easier for them.

but it was before the NA launch and we have had an update since then, it should be here by now...

DSi wouldn't be too big a problem though since you won't have save data clogging up your DSi's memory or anything like that.

Exactly my point it would be pretty easy to implement and they have the people to do it...

Idk, it's a sore subject for me, I feel like we have been left out since the Wii has it, but the DSi is practically new so...

Just wait, they'll come up with something. Just blame it on those dang pirates. They always ruin everything and we take the heat too.

Yeah, I ran out of space a while ago. Storage space is starting to become a concern when deciding if I want a game off the shop or not. Since the Wii storage fix, I've been much more loose in my criteria for downloading games. Come on, Nintendo!!

Exactly I don't wanna have to delete and recopy/re-download everytime I wanna play a different game, it really makes me not want to download their games anymore!

just like on the wii how there is a SD card menu there will be a firmware update for a SD card menu for the Dsi so you can store you Dsi ware and app's on but the icon for the SD card menu wont be on the side of the DSi menu becuse the Dsi menu is to small unlike the wii's menu. the SD card app will look like a SD card. when it is blue it meens a SD card is in when it is gray it will meen a SD card is not in the slot.

now for were the icon for the app will go it will be in one of the free space's were you can put your DSi ware and app's for your DSi in

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

I ran out of space a few weeks ago. However, at the moment I have EXACTLY zero blocks left in my system memory.
