Topic: SNES for 3DS VC

i know this topic is ages old, but i couldn't find the original forum to post this on. so if anyone knows where it is, please post it here.

people have been talking about it for a long time, but it never happened. it's more popular than ever because of Zelda:ALinkBetweenWorlds being a sequel to the heavenly Zelda:LinkToThePast SNES classic. but the question remains; will we ever see SNES games on the 3DS VC service? theories point towards LttP being released on VC, or even as a 3D classic, because of the upcoming sequel, ALinkBetweenWorlds. but what about other SNES classics? there are so many, will we ever see one released on 3DSVC?

my opinion? we haven't had them yet, why should we get hope now? it's been years, and the only SNES games to be on VC are for WiiU. i don't understand though. 3DS Ambassadors have GAMEBOY ADVANCE games, which are a lot larger than SNES games on a technical scale. why, i ask why, can't we have SNES games on 3DSVC?

I prefer Megadrive games... So that is what we're gonna get eventually

3DS lacks Genesis games too unfortunately. both sides have great libraries, but it'll be a while before we see anything on the 3DSVC if at all.

Well we know we will be getting Megadrive games on 3DS VC... They already have them in Japan now

eventually, i guess we'll have to wait it out. but a word from NoA and NoE would be nice.

Honestly I rather not have SNES games on the 3DS VC I rather them be on the Wii U VC. I rather have handhold consoled VC games on the 3DS ie GB, GBC, GBA, Game Gear etc. I wouldn't mind if the ever brought Neo Geo Pocket games to the 3DS VC. But no keep the SNES on the Wii U VC please.

Yeah, I guess that's true about the Megadrive games. A lot of people are grouping them together with the 3D Classics, but they're not part of that series. I think of them as virtual console games.

I would loooove SNES and GBA games on my 3DS. I'm sure that if we don't get them on this console, the next handheld will get them. Hopefully everything will be transferable

Nintendo wants to keep SNES and GBA games Wii U exclusive to help their struggling console, makes sense but sucks for 3ds only owners like myself...... At least Sega seems to be doing what Nintendon't, bringing 16 bits to the 3ds

@Tasuki wouldn't you love to play your favorite SNES games on the go though? whenever i want to do that, i have to bring a portable SNES with me, and that's a pain since it's so big and clunky. 3DS VC has a lot of GB/GameGear games under it's belt, more to come, so that should keep you happy. i can't live without having the Castlevania VC in my pocket because of 3DS VC. i can say the same thing for my SNES games, which is why i carry around a portable SNES, but it's much more convenient to have these games on VC, if that makes sense. and this is just my opinion, but SNES/NES games have aged a lot, to a degree where i can't look at them on my HD TV. they're much more fitting on a smaller platform, like the 3DS. does that make sense?

@Tsuchinoko regarding the transferable comment, i think it's about time nintendo implemented the account-based system to 3DS/WiiU. too often do i worry i'll break my 3DS and lose access to all my games downloaded. Steam has it, and i LOVE it.

that at least makes sense. every time nintendo releases a game for WiiU and 3DS, i'm more likely to get it for 3DS than wiiu. just me though. Smash bros for example, i'm getting it for 3DS not WiiU (unless nintendo does something that makes the WiiU version definitve).

@KAHN: Yes that makes sense and to me it doesn't matter if I have SNES games on the go cause truthfully there are other games just as good that I have on the go. But yeah I see your point and it does make sense.

I do have a back-up SD card But I guess you're right. I love my 3DS though. I'm really hoping that at least the next handheld will have that, plus all of the GBA games that I want.

eh, not me. i'm still using the 2GB card that came with my 3DS. i ended up buying animal crossing New Leaf, but i had to download it, so there's almost no room left. guess that's my fault for not having a larger SD card though, but i seem to manage. i have back-up saves for each of my games, so i just delete them when i need room for other games.

I think the games have console-dependent encryption, so if your console itself breaks, backup SD cards won't help.

Exactly and Nintendo needs to fix this ASAP, I live in fear of my 3DS breaking and losing hundreds of dollars worth of digital downloads
