Oh well. I guess the superior VC releases in Europe are fair considering how long it takes Atlus games to be released over there (they still don't have Overclocked yet, do they?)

NA did just get Mega Man 3 this week. Not to mention pretty much all of the best retail titles for 3DS/Wii U are coming to Europe last. :3

Hey don't be mean to Europe. Even though I stil live in North America don't make Europeans feel bad just because they sometimes get games a little later than us. We get games later than them too... like Kirby's Dream Land 2 on 3DS Virtual Console.

Classic Sonic will always be the number 1 Sonic! I think Modern Sonic's great but will never beat my original Classic Sonic.

Just picked it up; having a blast. :3

For those starting out, a little tip:
Having your name start with a lower case or capital letter changes the crops you can buy in the game.
Starting your name with a symbol means you get all of them available. :D

I have a question about Harvest Moon:

On the GBC version the dwarfs would take your hoe and sickle after a while and return upgraded versions after 12/24 hours. Which was really confusing, because they didn't mean ingame hours... you actually had to activate this timer feature, turn the game off and wait 24 hours in real time. It worked with the module's battery and would eventually kill it quickly...

So, how does this work on the Virtual Console? I fear that you might not be able to get back your sickle and hoe at all...

They've actually managed to retain the timer feature. The manual goes into the details, but as long you activate the timer in game, and then shut off your 3DS system then it will work (It doesn't say that it will work if the software is closed and you're playing something else, but I'm interested to find out if it does). Allow real time to pass (ie. 12/24 hours) and the Sprites will have done the work. So yes, it is still possible to get the upgraded hoe and sickle.

Oh my, does anyone know how to actually get a fish in river king?, I managed to reel it in a bit but it's really hard, maybe im just a noob at it.

The day when most people get active is the day zombies roam...but there should be a thousand ways to kill them to make life more easy, but if you become one...expect a serious case of the munchies.

The game does a really bad job of actually teaching you about it, but you have to wait until the fish stops moving completely, and then hold down the button to reel it in. When it starts to struggle, let go and let it run out of steam again. Usually you only have to do this once or twice though.

The annoying part is that there's an old man who says he'll teach you how to fish - but only after you've caught and given him a certain type of fish. Because that makes sense right!?

OMG. I wasn't going to get HM GBC because a) I already have ToTT on my 3DS, and b) I just bought HM BtN for my Vita, so I don't actually need anymore HM games. Then I looked up info and videos on the game and....I think I want it now. It'd be fun to do some farming if I am too lazy to grab my ToTT cartridge and there's no village or dating to speak of. At first I didn't think I'd like to play it if I can't get a date, but then I realize that's the beauty of it. I can spend all my time farming/fishing/mining without having to do anything else. It's so simple that it actually makes the game more of a way to relax/unwind if you don't want to do anything stressful. I think I'll get the game after all >[/em]> Just need a 3DS card now though.

Just arived at Lake 1. Pretty fun game so far. My only small issue is that there are no hints whatsoever about what bait to use on what fish (I don't mind the trial & error approach, except that you lose one of your bait, just for switching it out).

Example: You have 5 worms, & 5 larvae. You try using larvae but nothing bites. When you switch out for a worm, instead of putting the larvae back in your inventory, it gets used up.

How do you switch lures in River King?

You need to go to tackle, and change your rod to the lure rod @RR529. Then instead of a bait button, you get a lure button.

And if a fish would normally bite but you're using the wrong bait/tackle, your floater will bob a tiny bit but it won't go down. Also, there are about 3 different flies/baits/lures which together can catch every fish in the game.

Been stuck for a while on the first lake as I need to find a cutthroat trout for someone. Anyone know where I should be looking? I've tried most baits in most areas but haven't had any luck.

Cutthroat trout is only to the far left iirc.
Take the path below the river and go as far left as possible.

I'm not saying Europe gets everything first. Retail-wise, NA is second only to Japan in terms of getting high-quality content for the 3DS. But Europe has been getting the majority of the VC releases much sooner than NA.

Look in the digital manual. It gives you the locations for all the fish in every area (except for the Guardian).

Also, does anyone know how to get the wind chime?

!! Really? I know I checked the manual to learn how to fish (this thread helped more than the manual did for that, btw!) but I guess I didn't look through the whole thing. Thank you!
