I don't have any terrible games on 3DS. The closest would be Bit Boy‼︎ ARCADE, but that one's gameplay is more simple than outright bad. And the word “pixel” gets tossed around too much, as though it were cute or something.
I'd love to see someone here who'd be stupid enough to defend Sticker Star and say that its a hidden gem!
One would be stupid to call a retail Mario game hidden, you've got that right.
@Xenjamin Sticker Star is funny, it's Mario, but it's not an RPG. It has more of an adventure game feel. There's no leveling in the traditional experience point sense. There's also practically no story. Those seem to be what people dislike about it the most, but they also don't like the unforgiving bosses and backtracking to retrieve certain items.
I like the game a lot for its cleverness, writing, open-endedness, and sticker battle system. But then I was deliberately taking my time with it, so I wasn't prone to being annoyed by any tedium.
@BearHunger Thanks for the added info! It would seem like im better off with the other entries in the Paper Mario series because a lack of RPG/Story is a deal-breaker for me in this case.

Unforgiving bosses? They were all almost impossible to beat unless you happened to make a lucky guess at which special sticker to use on them. SPOILERS Take the giant blooper for example. He slams you with tentacles, which you can survive. Then he blasts you with poison, which you can't. If you think to yourself "I bet I could use a giant sponge to absorb the poison, then somehow blast it back at him!" then congratulations, you just beat the boss. They are almost all like that. There is no strategy in this turn based game. You just guess the correct random item, most of which make absolutely no sense, both inside and outside of battle.
/end rant
... the game was pretty though. Shiny stickers were cool.

They were impossible for you?Wow i never had a single problem with any of them except the last boss, cause it was very annoying especially when you had to eat bowser's minion in a certain way until you faced him.
@EOTW Gooper Blooper was an awesome fight… at least when you get it right the first time like I did. >:] That was satisfying. The sponge being found the way it was at the swamp seemed like a clue to me.
Now, waiting for the giant pokey to assemble before using the baseball bat was obtuse. It really didn't help that the battle starts with the words, “Play ball!” That one I very nearly failed because I did what appeared to be the logical thing.
@midnafanboy Stapler FTW. That was by far the most annoying fight. I never beat him because I ran out of stickers during his final phase, then asked myself why I was playing this instead of something good.
Since this is a thread about guilty pleasures I guess I should mention this. Despite the fact that I loathe Sticker Star I actually really loved the Enigmansion. That was one of my favorite "ghost house" levels in a Mario game for a while. HA!
Yeah, I didn't dislike Sticker Star either. It's not my favorite in the series, but it was worth playing, IMO (though I really haven't gone back to it after beating it). As for the bosses, I only used the special "Thing" stickers on the giant Blooper & Bowser, so I know they can be beat normally, if you have the inventory thought out.
I also really like Family Tennis 3D. It's not really considered a bad game (I think it got a 7/10 here), but it's still not really a big name either. I like the arcadey action, and I still play a couple quick matches a week.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

And it had that disco boo rave theme, which was awesome!
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
