Topic: Please help! My 3DS Fire Emblem keeps crashing

Don

I keep getting an error message saying an error occurred and to power off the system. It happens multiple times when I play Fire Emblem Fates Birthright. Right now I am on chapter 7 and I get this message when I select to attack the boss. Instead of the battle screen the error screen comes up. I don’t know how to fix this. I did a battle save right before my characters goes to attack the boss. Anyone else experienced this issue? I tried looking up online but can’t find a solution to this strange problem. Not sure if it’s the game card, the system or SD card. Thank you everyone in advance for any input.

@Don Generally speaking, if the problem is caused by corrupted save data, I don't believe there's anything you can do to salvage it. That goes for any console game. It's definitely an unfortunate scenario, if that's what happened.

Thank you for your advice. I will try to restart the game and see if it resolves the problem. I only got this error with Fire Emblem Birthright and no other 3DS games so far and the same error occurred on both 3DS XL and New 3DS. Maybe it’s the game card itself?

@Don Yeah, game saves are saved onto the game cards for 3DS. So, if it is corrupted game save data causing the error, it would make sense that the error occur on both consoles.

Unfortunately, if it's corrupted save data, using a previous save file could be a solution. However, I won't be surprised if a 3DS game doesn't have that option. Otherwise, the closest option to a solution is starting a new game. Although, I COMPLETELY understand if losing a ton of progress is undesirable. The next question is, does that Fire Emblem game allow you to delete, or manage the game save data? Some 3DS games, like Super Monkey Ball 3DS(I discovered), the in-game menu doesn't allow you to start over with a new game (a jerk move on Sega's part). - Maybe Fire Emblem allows you to manage the game save profile?

You probably have to blow the cartridge, or called Nintendo about it.

Is the game ok?!

In all seriousness, it might be a simple fix where you clean the cartridge by blowing on it or something.

Wait, why do we need a signature? Eh, I don’t know. Here’s your signature.

@WoomyNNYes I have been having a similar issue on my save for Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia. I kill Duma and get the end credits where it tells the stories of the characters, and at the half way point, my game crashes. This has happened twice on the same save. Could I overwrite an old save and use that? I am sorry, but I would really appreciate the help as this save is my try at beating the game in less than 500 turns and with no deaths.

@CelicaFan I don't have Fire Emblem Shadows for 3DS. So I don't know if I can answer that. But I'll venture to say, if you're talking about creating a new save point while still using the same game save data/progress, I think you'll still be stuck with the corrupted save data that's making your game crash.

Yeah, corrupted game save data is terrible, and they are a universal problem across all consoles, because the only solution is to start a brand new game - that's what all game support inside representatives will tell you. Corrupted save data is often the result of the game save being interrupted by closing the game while it's saving (or sometimes not your fault at all), which is why many games in the beginning say something like, "never turn off the console while the game save icon animation". (they don't use those words exactly, but you get the idea ).

Corrupted game save data sucks. I totally sympathize if that's what's happened. It's happened to me a couple times over the years. Oh yeah, also, closing a 3ds while it's saving could also be a source of the problem.
