For fans of the series old or new, there's certainly plenty to like about Mario Golf: Super Rush on Nintendo Switch. It offers a variety of modes and content to enjoy solo or with others; be sure to check out our Mario Golf: Super Rush review for the full lowdown on its fairway-based fun.
The game features local and online multiplayer, and Golf Adventure is a very welcome story mode; we also have a decent roster of 16 Mushroom Kingdom characters (plus Miis), including debuts from Pauline, King Bob-omb, and the character we've all been clamoring for, Chargin' Chuck.

With each character having different strengths and weaknesses and a Special Shot and Special Dash — not to mention their own bespoke golfing get-up — we'll all have our favourites. The right choice will be Bowser, of course, but it's nice to have a varied selection of golfers to make up a four-ball.
So, here's a full list of the confirmed roster for Mario Golf: Super Rush (so far — Nintendo has confirmed it'll add more in free updates), along with their key stats. We'll update it with any more reveals from post-launch updates.

I’m pretty sure that’s just Boo, not King Boo. Otherwise, this is a great roster. I’m excited to see Chargin’ Chuck playable. Hopefully more characters get added over time like in Mario Tennis Aces, it looks like there’s plenty of empty spots in the character select screen for that.
I can't wait to get this game. I love Mario golf!!
A conservative roster, I like it. King Boo is missing his crown, guess that's just a normal boo? Shame we don't get a hammer bro, they could use their hammers as clubs!
Chargin' Chuck's special shot is great.
He literally picks up the golf ball and throws it like an American foot ball.
Wow, Thomas is back! 😲 I've been gone for too long 😅
P. S.: Nintendolife Open!! (yes, I'm gonna leave this every chance I get)
I gotta say I really like how they're incorporating Pauline more nowadays instead of just making her the damsel in distress in Mario vs. DK.
I never played mario golf before, but man did I love Wii sports golf, so I think I will like this.
@Snatcher Ever play Wii Sports Resort golf? I recall they also had frisbee golf in that one too. Me, I just played hours and hours of island flyover. 😂
@Giygas_95 Nah just Wii sports, I have never really been into the sport, but Wii sports kinda just made me idk...like it in video games I guess?
@Snatcher Bowling for me. Resort had a 100 bowling pin mode that I absolutely loved playing. It was super satisfying knocking all those down at once. I'm not aware though, is this game going to support motion controls like swinging the wiimote but with a joycon instead? Be a bit of a missed opportunity if not.
@Giygas_95 It should, its not like your going to throw a bigass TV remote at your screen LOL.
Oh man I remember wii bowling, Love it to bits, in fact, all the games in wii sports were great, it would be great if they could bring them back.
@Snatcher I really enjoyed fencing in Resort. It was basically that game's version of boxing with the obvious difference being you were making sword motions rather than punching motions.
sniff it should’ve been Golden Sun instead
According to the Japanese website, Wario is a All-Round character. How is he not a Power character?
Rosalina turns balls into star bits, lol
(And I'm not sorry)
This is around the same number of the total of characters in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
Nice that they included Pauline and Chargin' Chuck in it.
Hope they expand the roster like they did with Mario Tennis Aces.
@Giygas_95 I think I remember something like that when the trailer's were going about.
Well i'ma gonna take a nap for a bit, so sorry if I can't reply.
I'm not really into Mario sport games, but I have to say that I really like it when they design new costumes for them 😃
Wario looks absolutely amazing!
@clvr NGL Bowser looks Amazing.
They should add Samus. She could become the ball.
Is it just me or does Daisy have the crazy eyes in this game? :S
Hmh, i hoped i'd see a new Slam or Strikers :/
Waluigi’s look doesn’t disappoint!
It looks like it is geared more as a party game than single player. I will still get day one, but I wish this had more courses and single player fun.
@The_New_Butler The RPG stuff will be nowhere near as good as Golf Story unless Camelot suddenly decides to up their RPG game massively, but character progression is nice anyway, so I won't mind too much.
@rockodoodle The Adventure mode is a full single player experience like the GBC, GBA, and 3DS games had!
@Snatcher yeah I really like him too 😃
Waluigi looks super sharp as well 👌🏻
I hope we get some more DK reps this game. I'm tired of us only ever getting Donkey Kong and SOMETIMES Diddy. They can choose from King K Rool, Dixie, Chunky, Lanky or Tiny
@Bret I'm guessing it'll largely be at the same general level of quality as the story in Mario Tennis Aces. Take that as you will.
Needs more Donkey Kong and WarioWare characters.
...I feel like this game needs a course creator, that would be awesome.
Also yeah, that's just a normal Boo, not King Boo.
Eyyyup, it's gonna slow trickle 100 more characters like in Tennis...
Why is chuck here tho
Can’t wait to load this up with Wario!
I have enjoyed the Mario Golf series but this one hasn't grabbed my attention. The courses look rather bland to me. Speed Golf looks like it could be fun.
@Kriven It still feels really weird for him to no longer be classified as a power character. When you hear all-around, Wario is usually not a character you'd think of. Maybe all-round.
@Thelastjedi2007 Because it's funny.
That's just boo.
King boo has a crown and is huge.
I better be able to unlock my boy Petey Piranha.
Boo has been stripped of his kingdom. (That was on me - Tom would definitely have caught the lack of crown!)
I’d love it if Cackletta resurfaced in a Mario spin-off, out of the blue!
“EEYAH-HA-HA-HA!!” whacks a golf ball
16 seems very low for a golf game. I'm assuming a 4 day tournament won't be an option with that small a roster.
5 of these characters aren't wearing proper clothing
Loved the golf game on 3DS, so hopefully this one can live up to that.
Bowser Jr's outfit is adorable! His visor has the clown car face!
@Shiiva this likely isn’t the full roster, it’s just who’s in the recent footage
if the moo customization is anything like miitopia. then we will see thousands of characters like banjo. Garfield sonic and pikachu. that would be awesome.
@Handy_Man Or is he just missing his crown? Inquiring minds want to know...
Looks like I’ll be picking this up. I have great memories playing the original Mario Golf with my dad on the N64.
No Shy Guy but a charging cuck?
Wtf
@Thelastjedi2007 Chargin' Chuck should have appeared in a Mario Sports game a long time ago, it makes perfect sense.
Nintendo eshop page states that the game "Offers In-Game Purchases" so it seems pretty safe to say there will be some sort of paid DLC. I just wonder how much it'll end up costing for all the content...
It's so cool to see Chargin' Chuck finally playable in a game, I always loved that particular enemy! King Bob-omb is also quite nice, and it's great to see Pauline is continuing to be a new staple of these kinds of rosters.
Weird that there's no Diddy Kong or Birdo, though...
@ShadJV I'd be content with a small roster though, too often Mario games pile in stupid amounts of characters who serve little to no purpose outside the main roster.
You know who I'll be picking whenever I get this game (not on release, though)
Hint: It's the character depicted in my profile. (No, not Paper Bowser.)
@Shiiva yeah, I expect them to do the same thing they did with Tennis this gen and have new characters trickle out over time. But I’m sure this isn’t the whole roster, they wouldn’t reveal the unlockable characters over a month before release.
As long as it has the animations and voicelines like Toadstool Tour, and course variety that isn't just grass, I'm sold! So far it's looking like it hits all of those marks
I'm maining King Bob-omb
@Kriven Oh yeah I very much agree with you on that, I really don't like how grossly he's being depicted as of late.
@Snaplocket
I mean, if Nintendo wanted an idea for Mario Kart 9, Factions! Team Mario v Team Bowser v Team Kong v Team Wario. They’ve got more than enough characters to do it.
I do like how waluigi looks here but not sure how I feel about their choice to make it canon that he now only has one foot
@Tott Five bucks for a course and 99 cents for a character? I'm probably underestimating.
@Giygas_95 agreed. this looks awesome!
@Bret Maybe... with the open spaces on the character screen, plus a couple/few courses you'd look at maybe $20-$25 extra? While that would bring the cost of the game over $100, I guess it isn't terrible.
@Tott I'm not convinced the open spaces on the screen aren't just for custom characters. 16 might be the full planned roster.
This Mario Golf Super Rush rollout & layout gives me a slightly more robust version of the Mario Tennis Aces vibes so far. I'm sure it'll follow a similar formula of timed monthly highlighted modes for competition/co-op, character & outfit unlocks etc.
The only sport video game I play yet I despise golf in real life.
"Blasts away balls on impact" and "blasts away balls in its path" are rehashed too much. It'd be nice if each character had a legitimately unique special shot. This seems lazy.
Please NLife stop the cringe subheadings.. 'More than fore of them' is the best you could come up with? 🤯🤯🤯
@Mitchtwd No one likes whiners, especially when it is clear that Camelot hasn't been interested in making RPGs for the past 11 years til now.
Am I the only one who thinks that the Donkey Kong and Pauline renders look very bad?
