It was only once the SP was out that I was able to afford leveling up from my GBC. I used the heck out of it, mainly for Yu-gi-oh! games, Pokemon R/S/FR/LG/E, Minnish Cap and Link to the Past (never had home consoles, only portable ones). It had lots of advantages, but the one that stood out was that rechargable battery. My second GBA I bought in a third-world country about ten years ago. It was the genuine article (probably - it certainly was built well enough and I had the original to compare), but then hacked and loaded up with about two hundred games and some kind of emulator. Everything I would have wanted to play was on there, and I beat every game again. Worth every penny of the $40 or so it cost.
