Re: "If You're A Real Fan, You'll Find A Way" - Borderlands 4 Dev Gives Tone Deaf Response To Price Concerns

Starflight may have cost $80 in 1991, but the selection of people who would buy a video game back then is a fraction of what it is today.

Plus back in the day we had places like Blockbuster allowing for game rentals for $5-$10 for a week, allowing people to play these games cheaper and incentivising companies to make games either longer or at the very least harder to incentivise parents to buy their kids said game to keep. Best we have now is a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass.

Game publishers helped kill the rental industry, only to put prices back to pre-rental states. I dread the price increase when they finally kill pre-owned sales.
Who knows, they might just take Nintendo's approach and decide to never parentally lower the price of their 7 year old games.
Borderlands 5 could be $150 and remain costing that for the next 20 years if game publishers get their way.

Long story short; if AAA or AAAA games are too expensive for you, buy indie games. Chances are high you'll get more fun out of them anyway.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

An issue I've noticed is that any 3rd Party Controller seems to have the rumble constantly active when playing N64.
My brother uses a third party controller which has the issue and when I tried to play using my Retro Bit Wireless Tribute64 controller, it has the same issue. (Plus because the lack of remapping the controller is awkward to use anyway.)
So Yeah... Don't bother using 3rd party controllers with the rumble turned on.

Re: Is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Taking To The Skies On Nintendo Switch?

Would be a bit more believable if the Amazon link didn't have it's release date marked for "1 Jan. 2030" in the product details.
A simple "TBA" would have worked fine, if it was a real thing yet had no decided release yet.
Plus based on Nintendo's previously announced plans to NOT port Skyward Sword to Switch and the constant fake rumours, this is simply not believable.
If it does turn out to be more than a troll annoucement, I'll be very surprised.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Paper Mario Game?

@MeowMeowKins
Unfortunatly I no longer own a Wii. However, I had played Mario Galaxy back when I had one. While it was fun, I can't say it's one of my favourite games. I like a wide margine of games genres however, platforms are few in my list of my most enjoyed. Again, I have fun with them. I just can't really get fully into them. With a few exceptions such as Spyro, Banjo-Kazooie, and a few metroidvania games.
This is similar to fighting games. In terms of 3D fighting games I only have a few I enjoy, such as the 'My Hero One's Justice' series and 'Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit' (My first ever fighting game. (The opening for that game was awsome)). With 2D games almost completely falling off of my attention (Mostly because I'm so bad at 2D fighting games I can't even pass the 2nd fight in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle's story mode.) They're fun to play with friends; just as bad as me though.
(Sorry for my comment being so large again. And the lack of Paper Mario mentions in it, simply wanted to respond properly.)

Re: Poll: What's The Best Paper Mario Game?

Paper Mario: TTYD comes in first for me.
The characters are interesting both in design and the way they were written, the story engaging, the combat never felt like a drag to get through; and whole game felt like an adventure.

TTYD is followed by Paper Mario 64.
PM64 was a great game. While it's not as good as it's sequel it was a strong foundation that was beginner friendly to those new to the RPG genre.
It sort of makes me sad that Nintendo didn't create more RPG games for the N64, as PM64 proved that it could work.

Next is Super Paper Mario.
SPM while flawed in many ways will always be special to me, as it was the first PM game I ever played and was the game that got me intrested in the series. In terms of characters and story SPM might even beat TTYD in terms of how it they were were written (excluding Vivian; who remains my favourite PM character, (for fans of the character I recommend 'Luka Urushibara' from 'Steins;Gate' the characters are very similar in a number of ways)).
The design however is were SPM is lacking. While I understand the style they were going for, it would have been more intressting if the character designs reflected their own worlds more, rather than just sharing the whole same shapes design.

Finally at the bottom is Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
I couldn't finish this game. I tried on multiple occasions and failed. Not because it was hard, but because it was boring. The game is too easy, the characters are practically non-existent and the story is dull. Every moment playing the game I felt as though I would rather be reading through my backlog of books instead.
From as far as I managed to get through it though, know that the game is fundamentally flawed from a gameplay level. Its follows RPG game philosophy while ignoring RPG game reward systems.
Anyone who enjoys this game is entitled to their own opinions, but I personally can't bring myself to like it.

With Paper Mario: Colour Splash, I have to say I didn't play it. I do not own a Wii U, and this game from it's trailers didn't convince me to get one. It looks for the most part like a sequel to Sticker Star, with some improvements though.
(I also never bought Paper Jam, simply because I hold no interest in the Mario & Luigi series.)

Finally we come to Paper Mario: The Origami King. Once again this looks to me like another sequel with improvements. I have not played it yet, nor do I plan to play it at it's current price tag. £40 is simply to much for me to spend on a game I feel I may not enjoy. If I can find it somewhere for around £15 to £20 I may pick it up. But based on Nintendo's current pricing model, I doubt it will go down in price to these levels.

As a finale note, I just want to say how I have no interest in Mario as a character. I rarely play Mario series games (like Odyssey and Galaxy). I have fun playing them, but I'm not a fan who would go out and buy every game in the Mario series.
The original Paper Mario games are an exception to this. Charaters found in 64, TTYD, and Super PM are what built my love for these games. When they return, I will also return to the series. But until then at least with me, Paper Mario is like any other Mario game. They might be more fun now then Sticker Star, but I'm not going out of my way to buy it.

Sorry this comment was long; however I wanted to give my own honest opinion, that I've kept to myself for a long time.
I hope everyone has a nice day.
