Wait, how's the first chapter, which is a text adventure, played? Do you get the Switch UX keyboard for the whole screen or something? This is iirc something that made you guys give Mainlining a low score.
Hmm, I've already seen two more reviews (9 from Digitally Downloaded and 7.8 from Noisy Pixel) and they seem to invalidate some points stated in this review. (Seemingly non-existent choices seem to affect other endings etc. and that the game may seem generic if you play only till the first ending and then it throws a curveball at the player)
I already have a copy of this on hand, and will try myself. Not saying that the review is wrong or something, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but maybe the game just didn't gel with the reviewer here and others' mileage may vary.
I got a few lighter days ahead of me. I'll try to get through a multitude of shorter games. I've got a few games in my backlog for the weekend: Ys III: Wanderers from Ys for the TGCD, SuperStar Saga + Bowser's Minions for the 3DS and Luigi's Mansion for the 3DS. I may also finish Steamworld Dig at last.
While Vakyria Chronicles and Dark Souls are big highlights this week, there's a bunch of great indie titles as always: Black Bird, WILL and the Missing all look to be imaginative and evocative titles. Can't wait to check them out.
Wait, they delayed it to Smash week? Are they purposely shooting themselves in the foot? What good is a non-half-baked physical release when there's no one to get it? I really want the game, mostly because of the all-star composer team, but I also want it to succeed. I'd be ok with pushing it even further (it doesn't seem like a game that has Christmas season legs anyway).
Kinda sad, kinda not. The Vita is a great piece of hardware, (far far better than 3DS in my opinion) with the best screen of all the handhelds ever (OLED of the fat version) and is home to a lot of great indie titles. The PSP is a haven of JRPGs (Legend of Heroes series, Ys, Final Fantasies, Star Ocean, Valkyria Chronicles) and a slew of solid PSX titles. Plus the d-pad on the Vita is beyond godly. On the other hand, support for the console from Sony is absymal. Here's hoping the companies that had the PSP and Vita in high regard (Xseed with its Falcom translations, Square, tri-ace) will move their efforts to Switch.
That's surprisingly late for a direct. Europe's getting the shaft this time.
...
Oh, who am I kidding, I'll be watching that, even in the middle of the night. So two things that are most likely locked in are NSMBUDX and FFXVPE. Anything else? Wishful thinking, but maybe a Kingdom Hearts collection?
The review mentions a handful of games, but from the trailer to this, I associated it with Max and the Curse of Brotherhood - a game that is nothing more than a spectacle with derivative platforming and puzzles (lets call it a Spectacleformer ). Any comments on how Planet Alpha and Max measure up to themselves, @Dom?
@SmaggTheSmug @ReaderRagfish It's art by the acclaimed "Master of Breasts", Satoshi Urushihara (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satoshi_Urushihara) (do not google his works in work, veeeery NSFW). The remake, though, will be drawn by the illustrator for Ar Tonelico.
The 3DS game sucked major, but Warsong for the Mega Drive and Der Langrisser for the SNES (translation available) are both fantastic Fire Emblem-like games. Reports of "optimizing difficulty for newcomers" do not sound good, but I can't help but wonder if this will be as good as the originals.
I usually like DJ Slopes' complete history videos, but this one seems kind of, I dunno, rushed? Compare this to his Ecco or Metroid video, full of intersting tidbits and anectodes. Here we have literally two or three sentences about a few games (Snapped, Game &). Didn't enjoy it as much.
Deponia coming to Switch is nice, but this is just the fourth game, which is from my understanding, an alternate storyline. I've been wanting to try those games for a while now, so getting the original trilogy would be much, much cooler.
As for the rest? The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 seems good after reading on the web for a bit, but looks utterly awful. The Raven looks poor too.
I 'like' how THQ Nordic is sitting on literally hundreds of properties but throws second rate things on the Switch and sees what sticks. Come on, man up and give us Gothic, Painkiller or Darksiders. At this rate, the next slapped together port will be of Yoga Wii or something!
@Yasume hahah more like stockpiling while they're cheap. I did jumping around games some time ago, but now I try to concentrate on one at a time per system too. It's just that some of those deals are really a steal. I mean come on, 71% on TumbleSeed?
Oh god, that sale. Even better than the last one. Smoke and Sacrifice, Floor Kids, Mulaka, Tumbleseed, Bomb Chicken, Necrodancer, Layers of Fear, SpiritSphere and so on. Drained 90 euros on the last one, this time I'm looking at close to 150. Great summer, I guess I'll get some games instead of a vacation. And I still have physical Okami and Dead Cells preordered. GG nintendo.
Good thing he omitted Hyrule Warriors, 100%ing that would easily add another 484 hours into the total. Also, gotta save that spreadsheet, those are some good checklists.

€3.89 for Steredenn looks like a steal, time to get it at last.

Re: Win A Copy Of Realpolitiks For Switch
I hope I win. The game concerns my region and was made in my country, so I feel I'd be right at home with it.

Re: Random: Rare Employee Reveals Original Name Of K. Rool And Donkey Kong Country
It's even better in polish, where 'King' is translated to 'Król', which is read more or less like 'Cruel'.
Good thing that nintendo doesjn't translate it's games for the polish market, because 'Król K. Rool' would be going a bit overboard

Also, it's not in the article, but Death Road to Canada is currently on sale in Europe, till the 14th.
