@Preposterous It's been a long time since I played BW2, but didn't Easy/Challenge Mode require you to beat the game first? I also know that Easy Mode was exclusive to White 2 and Challenge Mode to Black 2 unless you used wireless/IR communications to get the opposite version's mode.
I'm actually planning on picking up Let's Go Eevee before forming an opinion unlike some people, but I'd be lying if I said that some of the gameplay choices that were shown off/explained/leaked before release (no wild battles, barely any post-story content, and Candy being used to boost actual stat points, how Meltan is obtained in Go, and how many Meltan Candies i costs to get Melmetal) didn't rub me the wrong way.
That said, some fans are scared about what effect LGPE will have on the core games coming after the 2019 game. Some VGC players were worried if they would be the "required" games for the rest of 2018-2019 season but TPCi announcing that USUM would be the go-to game for said season quelled those fears for a while. With the recent reveal of how Stat Candies work they're now fearing that those will be transferred to the core series (which I doubt given that you can turn those boosts on and off when batting online).
To put in simpler terms (and somewhat more relatable terms for Nintendo players): Some Pokemon fans are worried about LGPE causing a "third pillars" scenario for Game Freak.
