Been listening to this on the way to work this morning. Really cool app which they should have released a while ago tbh but I'm glad it's here now. Deffo needs more retro game soundtracks added!
Enjoyed reading this article a lot. I too love video game maps, even the basic old school ones. My first video game was Alex Kidd on the SMS and I loved tracing the journey on the world map or even sometimes drawing my own versions of game worlds!
I'd give 2022 at least a 7/10. It was a genuinely good year with a lot of interesting game releases. The only thing it lacked was a massive AAA "nintendo" title like a Zelda or Mario but it was still solid. If you're ranking the Switch years i'd go like this: 1st = 2017 (launch + Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, Xenoblade etc.) 2nd = 2019 (awesome games, just couldn't beat launch year) 3rd = 2022 (a good but not great year) 4th = 2018 (basically smash and a few gems) 5th = 2021 (basically metroid and little else) 6th = 2020 (only Animal crossing and a big drought)
@Nintendo4Sonic Mmm close between that and Starfox Adventures maybe but i'd put it higher based on it being a more traditional starfox game. I also think it still plays ok (despite the dodgy framerate).
1) Lylat Wars (9/10) 2) Starwing (8.5/10) 3) Star Fox Adventures (8/10) 4) Star Fox 2 (7.5/10) 5) Star Fox Zero (7/10)
Zero isn't as bad as people made out but the controls are strange no doubt. Also I count the 3DS and N64 games as the same - but it does play better on the N64 with a proper analog stick!
@Heavyarms55 I feel exactly the same way. If it goes to cloud gaming I'm not sure I'll follow. I love my retro gaming anyway so this actually doesn't bother me that much.
@boxyguy I sort of agree with you but tbf they always said they were going to put up a paid online service so the early switch owners had it good when it was free. Also they did at least add more than just retro games with Tetris 99 and Cloud Saves.
They honestly need to add a selection of titles from the Gameboy/GB Color, Game Boy Advance and especially the N64 to the online service as a minimum in my opinion. Maybe DS titles too but they could be a bit awkward and you can play them on your 3DS (or DS) anyway so not a biggie.
Also they just need to improve the online performance in general. Some games work absolutely fine but some are still laggy and in 2020 that's just not acceptable anymore.
To end a positive note though the service is really cheap and I like what they've put on there so far - especially Tetris 99!
The 3DS was still selling reasonably throughout 2017 & 2018 - it's only in 2019 that it dropped off a cliff in sales. Some of this is down to age but even more important was the launch of the Switch Lite. This signalled the true end of the 3DS.

Re: Poll: Will You Trade In Your Switch When Switch 2 Arrives?
I have never sold a console I've owned going back to the Master System. Absolutely no way I'm about to trade in now!

Here's my personal top 5 with ratings:
