As for me I definitely prefer New Leaf. The villagers had more range in their personality, especially with the welcome amiibo update. It just felt more, idk, whole. New Horizons has gotten better as they've added new stuff, and I liked the 2.0 update + integration of happy home designer/paradise/whatever, but I do miss some of the characters that can only be seen with amiibo now. And I hate CJ. Idk why, I just really hate Chip's son.
I don't understand why people are getting so defensive of this game. I absolutely adore this game. I'm also capable of seeing its faults. I think a lot of the people who are upset over people's complaints haven't played past Animal Crossing games, or only played New Leaf maybe, or are just trying to blindly defend a series they care about. As someone who owns every single amiibo card and spends far far too much time on this game, I can still acknowledge that it stripped away so many of the important features from past installments, and it's still missing over 20 of the special NPCs. Yes, over 20 if my amiibo cards or anything to go by. And that's after the update.
This isn't about games having different content. If you've played the past games, you know that this content is standard for the series. Every feature people are complaining about has been in every single game since the features were introduced. Every feature people complain about being missing. Keep that in perspective.
