@Zuljaras If Nintendo was hellbent on killing off physical media, it would have to be because of a last minute decision. I don't see any other explanation as to why DK Bananza wasn't a forced local installation.
@Zuljaras So you think Nintendo, the company that has seen so many things come and go in the world of gaming, is so incompetent that the concept of local installs completely eludes them? Are you genuinely not able to come up with any other explanation for why this situation is happening?
More to the general topic: When some of the GKC complainers in this thread are acting like the general concept of downloading games over this newfangled Internet thingy is weird and alien, it's a lot more difficult to sympathize with their cause. You can't go on about review bombing unrelated products and expect me to see that as righteous.
After seeing the prevalent narrative that every dev under the sun absolutely needs every last megahertz from the PS5/Xbox Series CPU...this is quite the turnaround from that.
I can understand not liking GKCs specifically, but some of you act as though downloading games over this newfangled Internet thingy is some weird alien concept.
@Astral-Grain But that doesn't change the fact that the Switch does allow you to get by with less storage space, something that doesn't apply to other devices. If you think the ports look like muddy water that's fine, but there are people out there who are willing to make that tradeoff
@wicktus You saying that your point revolves around performance is the thing that I wanted to address in the first place: I'm well aware that Mariko performs the same, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a 2019 chip that genuinely improved an aspect of the Switch experience, even if it's not the one that you wanted. Nintendo wanting to patch a security hole doesn't change that fact either. I'm not saying that you have to appreciate the increased battery life, but if you're specifically going to draw attention to the year that the chip releases, then including the revisions that you don't personally care about would go a long way towards providing a more complete story. Besides, let's face it, in the alternate universe where Mariko was overclocked for a Switch Pro, people would use the Switch's comparatively low battery life as a point against it when comparing it to the Deck
@wicktus None of the Switch models on sale currently use a 2017 chip, the Tegra X1+ released in 2019. If you don't care about the increased battery life and you only care about raw horsepower, that's a perfectly valid preference to have, but I find it a bit short sighted of certain people to not acknowledge it at all
