@Fiskern I dislike when reviews use such language as “Dark” or “Edgy” because of the bad rap it gets with games that self describe that way. I never felt the writing was cringe during gameplay. I would describe it simply as “mature” in the way that it doesn’t pretend that you are a child and don’t know that death or bad things can happen. That’s probably what they mean by “Dark/Edgy” in this case. It doesn’t read like a bad fanfiction would in any way, if that was your concern.
Beta Tester here. I’m glad you had a good time with it! The director is very adamant about not making Hand-holdy games, which I agree with, but I understand that’s not a universal sentiment.
The visual and audio style is some of the best in the indie sphere, everyday it breaks my heart when I see people disregard the beauty of pixel art. The artstyles that are born out of hardware limitations just makes following those rules produce impressive results. The soundtrack is worth grabbing, to me, anyhow.
I really hope people enjoy it! Getting lost in breeding has accounted for dozens of hours of playtime in both this game’s Beta and its predecessor.

@silver-crescent The game is a sequel but it can be enjoyed as a standalone experience if it is your introduction to Monster Crown.
