I think people saying that the desire for Zelda to be playable is a gender thing are missing the point abit. Sure you could see people want Zelda to be playable for that reason but their also is a much simpler reason than gender for a desire Zelda is both the second most important charcter and in the name of a franchise.
It doesnt matter what franchise you make if it gets big enough no matter who it is their will be fan desire to see other big charcters get spinoffs for important charcters. Zelda as a franchise dwarfs most other series so of course people are going to want spin offs that star other charcters. Zelda is just the most logical choice as the clear most important charcter not named Link. Look at Mario if they just had playable Mario in the first games of course their would be a billion request for Lugi to get his own stuff when we see him. It's just in Zelda case they have held off for some reason and not given the closest Zelda equivalent of Lugi a game for some reason or another until now.
