Re: Feature: Crazy Nintendo Crossovers We'd Like to See

TheBigHamlin

Mario loses his marbles from breaking too many blocks with his head and opens up a rift in the mario universe that connects with other famous nintendo worlds. Rpg style. You'd have samus, link, bowser, kirby, etc battling mario and his evil crew to save the whole nintendo universe.

Re: Mega Man is Going to Blast 3DS Virtual Console

They need to do 1 through 6 and 9 and 10 in 3D. Then I would rebuy them all. Add f zero, nes tecmo superbowl with updated teams and players [can't happen cause of jerks at E.A., but its my fantasy, so screw 'em] and super metroid, all in 3D would be pretty sweet.

Re: Review: Mega Man X2 (Wii Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

TheBigHamlin

And one last thing. Nintendolife should do an Oscars like voting of NL readers to decide on the important things in life. Like...

Best Score- MM2 easily
Best Visual Effects- MMX
Best Bosses- undecided
Best Weapon/Weapons- Metal Blade/MMX
Best Supporting Actor- Proto Man slightly edges out Zero..causes a controversy and fued on twitter between the two.
MTV Awards style Best Villian- Dr. Wily
Best Use of 2 Shades of Blue- Mega Man
Best Game- MM2...all the MM3 fanboys shed a tear and spill a little in the soil for their homie.

Please NL. Make this happen!

Have not played X2 in a grip but recently played through X and if memory serves me right, X2 was more difficult. I have the GC collection and it is kind of annoying using the GC controller...but not nearly as badd as the MM Anniversary control where the button config is reversed [jump is shoot and shoot is jump].

Re: Talking Point: Your 25 Years of Metroid Memories

TheBigHamlin

As Super Metroid was my first foray into the series, my preference is with the 2D games, but I do like the Prime series. One of my fondest memories is playing Super Metroid with a buddy when I was 12 and just finding all the secrets and power ups. My favorite was getting the speed booster in Norfair and running through a bunch of blocks and enemies, destroying everything in my path. Also perfecting the bomb jump was very cool.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy III (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

TheBigHamlin

Not sure about the Wii version, but the original was actually 2 player. Also, Corbie is dead wrong on the soundtrack being less than Chrono Trigger. CT is repetetive, FF VI has a new theme for every scene. I will never understand how people can rate CT above it, they are both 10's in my book, but FF VI is 1A and CT is 1B.

Re: Final Fantasy III

TheBigHamlin

And I am not trying to hate on Chrono Trigger. It is in my top 20 games of all time and has an awesome soundtrack. It is just that FF 6's soundtrack is that much better.

Re: Final Fantasy III

TheBigHamlin

I support what Varoennauraa said. BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER!!! Although I do not understand why Chrono Trigger is always mentioned in the same breath as FF VI musically. It has Good music that repeats itself alot.

Not enough countries so I will not play. An effin awesome game. Every goal scored is like pandemonium.

Re: Nintendo Download: 18th March 2011 (Europe)

TheBigHamlin

just spent 80 plus hours on this game in gba form. Not sure if the gba version is released in Europe but if it is i recommend that version. If not, this is one of the best games of all time, has an outstanding cast of characters, has an awesome soundtrack, and has the best ending of any FF game.

Re: Final Fantasy III

TheBigHamlin

Look, I understand why F Zero got a 9, it was groundbreaking at the time, but really, FF 6 is just as good as F Zero. And all you Chrono Trigger fanboys, I am one of them btw, FF 6 is better in story, gameplay, and especially music. And I believe I heard here that Chrono Trigger's battle system is far superior, but the characters just keep using the same moves they have in the beginning except they combine them with other characters' same moves. Play FF 6 on the GBA, the non-dumbdowned version, and the strategy is crucial. FF 6 >FF 7>Chrono Trigger >Secret of Mana>Nintendogs.

Re: Talking Point: Your Favourite Nintendo Christmas Memories

TheBigHamlin

I remember getting Donkey Kong Country and Final Fantasy III the same Christmas. I knew I was getting Final Fantasy because I was at Meijer (
midwest thing) where my mother had bought it, but it was still the only time I peeked in my parents hiding place and knew what I was getting for sure.

Re: Review: Super Smash Bros. Melee (GameCube)

TheBigHamlin

I can understand enjoying Mario Kart 64 over the others, battle was better, different controls, levels, but to prefer SSB over the Melee and Brawl doesn't make sense to me. Same game mechanics, less characters and options in the original, and no level creation (which puts Brawl ahead of the rest for me), all point to an inferior game experience. But we all are entitled to our opinions i suppose, i just can't understand it.

Re: Interview: Brian Provinciano - Retro City Rampage

I agree with CaptainDingo, WiiWare has so much potential going to waste. I rather see good quality 8 or 16 bit remakes or originals than crappy bargain console games. If it were up to me, which it should be, there should be a channel or system that does this exclusively. I would think and hope there is a market for that. Think of the possibilities...new metroid, super mario bros. 4, a new 8 bit zelda, castlevania, whatever. i would spend most of my allocated gaming money on all this before other console games for sure. Pipe dream, maybe, but still fun to dream about.

"If you take the words "Final" and "Fantasy" out of the title, this game suddenly goes from 'crappy spin-off' to 'fleshed out SNES classic'. C'mon, how many games are this good/fun? Is Yoshi's Island as hard as SMB 3? Heck no! "

You really think SMB3 is harder than YI. Are we talking cruising through YI or completing it 100 percent. I find YI much harder to complete. Anyways, i recently bought this game on snes and just could not get into it. Also, i know alot of you are in Europe, but it seems like there are alot of games you are "waiting" for on the virtual console when you could go out and get them for the actual system for cheaper, at least in my experience. And i am not counting Ebay, try Goodwill, local used game shops, etc. Sometimes games are priced too much but just sometimes you get a steal...
