@NolandC and Nintendo didn't patent just throwing a ball. They patented several very specific steps and functions that correspond with a core mechanic. Should any one portion of the mechanic be changed, the patent would no longer apply. I recommend you read the patent instead of arguing against a strawman.
@VtuberNMADev21 you either misunderstand the patents, or are purposely misconstruing them. I'm not going to go through each one and waste my time, but I'll take on your misunderstanding of the one about ridable mounts.
The patent in question describes flying on a flying-type mount, and upon landing, without additional user input, the game switching to a land-style mount. This is distinct from other games where one might land on a flying-style mount and dismount, or land and the flying-style mount becomes a land-style mount or land and the flying style mount traverses land.
It's legit not though. Say what you want about the ethics of enforcing patent law, but it's not bullying for a company to protect their interests from an explicitly bad-faith actor.
The comments are entirely missing that, yes, hire the best people for the job, but the workforces right now are not doing so. And Nintendo's owning up to that. They stated pretty directly they're not looking to do diversity hires or fill quotas, but by giving a diverse group of people the opportunity, you'll see talent you otherwise would not. Beyond that, increased diversity is better for a creative workplace and when it comes to problem solving due to the implicit benefits of diverse ideas, mindsets, and backgrounds alone, talent notwithstanding.
Scores don't matter. I check reviews for what points the reviewer dislikes of the game, and decide for myself if those matter than what they said was good about the game. A score is an opinion, and while the points of a review are mixed with an opinion, they are overwhelmingly based on facts.
@MrGawain Platinum doesn't have shareholders. While there's an undisclosed minority investment from Tencent, they are privately held and don't need to appease shareholders in the form of stock owners.

@Kado_Kawa amazing how you can choose to be so willfully wrong on every point.

@SmaggTheSmug japan doesn't really have legal precedent like the US does. These concerns are unfounded.
