I created an account just to state this: I got softlocked myself but there is still hope if you find yourself in this situation!
Went crying to Reddit and gladly found a solution: you can press UP + X + B on the title screen to access a backup save (the save before the "actual" one). In my case I had saved just before flying to the arena so everything is fine
