@Reztobi Could also mean that I come to a different conclusion, or that I'm missing something important.
Again: I get the importance of physical media, when it comes to game preservation and resale. I fail to see how it could have prevented the publisher to stop releasing the games, the moment they decided not to do it anymore.
@Reztobi I still don't see how this changes things. This is a publisher pulling the plug on probably low-selling games for whatever tax/strategic/powerhungry move. If it was only physical, they would have done the same move in a much quieter fashion. The fact that this was a digital storefront is the only reason we even knew it happened, and the only method anyone, who wanted these games, can get them in time.
I get the argument, that digital games kill the resale-market and keep them from later circulation (well, until the physical games degrade too much and all you have are pirated files or re-releases), but the fact that this was a digital discontinuation is really not a factor in my eyes here. If anything, it being digital kept it on the direct market longer.
@Reztobi How would physical media have changed this? This is akin to a game cartridge no longer being produced. The article did say, you should still be able to download it, if you purchased it, not that it would now be deleted from every console or so.
I get the arguments for physical media, but this ain't it.
@Abes3 except Daisy was wished for as well, in a similar quantity. And the crux is: Neither Daisy (little) nor Waluigi (none) have sufficient main game appearances to build a good moveset on. But Daisy at least fitsvas Peaches Echo-Fighter, so she was easy enough to implement. Waluigi would not work as Warios Echo, he would need his own moveset. And quite frankly, that's too much work for someone, who is basically a joke and troll choice.
