@Luminous117 took the words right out of my mouth lol
I'd also add that any new entry should address the repetitive nature of mystery dungeons as a concept. I don't know how I would do it, but I'm sure there's ways to make the core formula feel fresh with every dungeon run
I just finished chapter 7 I think? I unlocked the first thief. I'm adoring the gameplay and ring system and I appreciate the added depth while removing annoyances like weapon durability. However, support conversations are really bad, I just cannot bring myself to care about any of these characters except for Jean because he's just adorable and I want him to fufill his dream. I just wish they had more substance to them, I don't need all the waifu and life sim stuff, I just want to get to know these guys
If God is beyond Earth and human limitations, then God cannot be insulted because insults are (as far as we know) a human action. And if God cared about being insulted, they (I say they because I honestly don't know which God exists, if any for that matter), then they would have made it physically impossible for us to do so. But they didn't, so I've come to the conclusion that petty human insults are no where near any of their concerns.
And if God is real and good, and heaven and Hell exists, then I highly doubt they ill condemn anyone to an eternity of hellfire and brimstone over some jokes and will be more concerned about who we were during our lives. At least, this is how I've chosen to approach being agnostic.
@GrailUK That does sound like a really fun moment. I make jokes about my friends' cultures or what would probably be offensive remarks towards complete strangers and we're all fine with it because it's never about hate. These can be great bonding tools to bring different people together so long as everyone is fine with it, and boundaries are respected
@AtlanteanMan Please do not refer to us as "Blacks". That has the same racist connotations as "Colored". We're Black PEOPLE (which you did say later on, but still). That's a very important distinction because not including it is dehuminizing. We are people before we are Black (it's just it wouldn't be grammaticaly correct to say "People Black" lol)
Also, racism is more of a power structure. What you described when you said "offend black sensitivities" would be moreso prejudice, but since racism is prevalent around the world, most of the time predjudice towards anyone who isn't white is typically racism (as for LGBT it is typically homophobia or Transphobia).
I am not particularly for censoring, but it also takes a lot of knowledge and range to speak on a group you are not a part of without it coming off as hate and bigotry. It's easier to speak upon religion, because at the end of the day your faith is your personal choice. That too, however, must be done withing reason so we don't lead to harmful ones like Antisemitism and Islamophobia. Hope this clears a few things up. Your question remains valid.
Being Black and LGBT, I urge people to actually ask these questions (which you did respectfully too, which is a huge plus), because these are very important discussions to have. It's not about being PC, hell, a lot of us enjoy South Park and Family Guy. It's about the range of the humor andd knlowedge required for jokes and critiques to be valid and funny, and not bigotry. Which sadly, a lot of illinformed people just do not posess
@SeaFishelle Anti-China sentiment is literally the definition of sinophobia...
And I'm not sure if you thought I was talking about Trump when talking about white supremacy, but just in case, it didn't start, nor did it end with him. In the meantime, Black and Brown countries are still being pillaged by Western society, which is why I said people need to start taking a look in their own backyards (I am well aware of it myself, being part of western society as well). All I see here is fearmongering and borderline conspiracy theories, and this is exactly why I think Tencent should have been left out of this discussion concerning the game.
At the end of the day, this is still a video game website and while politics are subjects that can and should be touched in video games, this should by no means be the platform for these very important discussions. Because clearly they are not being handled with the care they deserve.
Honestly, I think the whole Tencent question should have been avoided, because some people don't seem to be able to voice their dislike without resorting to some level of Sinophobia. I'm not the biggest fan of the government myself for sure, but I need a lot of people to remember that their own countries are white supremacy adjacent and rely on the exploitation of the southern hemisphere (primarily Black and Brown countries) to maintain their wealth and power in western society.
Definitely not against politics when it comes to video games, and I respect everyone who is against Tencent's will and right to not play this game, but I also don't think this was the platform to have this discussion, since this isn't a space where Chinese people can even defend themselves.
All in all, maybe everyone needs to worry about their own governments and their involvment with shady coorporations, because all of us have skeletons in our closet.
@BenAV An alternative to 4 to get into the series would be to pick up Devil Survivor or Persona 3. You can even start with IV Apocalypse even though it's technically a sequel. It still has even more streamlined gameplay so it's easier to grasp. Nocturne should be kept as a second, even third game to be honest
A bit difficult for me to get into. Understanding the systems and the lack of clear tutorial. But there is definitely a good, cheap game worth playing here
@BloodNinja I have the game and haven't gotten around to really digging into it myself (I plan to eventually, but it does look like a time commitment). But every review I've seen of it has been excellent. Praising the writing as well as the gameplay and systems. I would definitely give it a look. It's considered the best Warhammer game of 2020 from what I've seen and a rare gem.
@BloodNinja Fair enough! I would look into Mechanicus if you haven't then. It's on Switch and PC and it's turn based strategy with fairly complex systems. They did a review for it on the site as well. Ofc, it's totally up to you, but that would be my other recommendation if you're looking for some Warhammer to get into. It's 40K as well
@EmmatheBest So I looked it up because it's something I do when I'm interested in any rpg or warriors game. Anyway, there are a few post-game things to do then a new game +. But definitely do not expect an adventure mode this time sadly.
@Ooccoo_Jr The story is extremely fun and the characters overall are great. As well as a couple of the second game's dlcs. They can all be completed without ridiculous grinding. But grinding the optional bosses is also very rewarding in general.

@GrailUK Oh wow, I actually really love this expression. Don't mind if I just... steal it lol

@GrailUK That's hilarious. And also inoffensive, since none of it was done out of hate and bigotry and everyone agreed to it.

@BloodNinja You should try the Total War Warhammer games, and Mechanicus as well are all pretty great
Re: Review: Pathway - Competent XCOM-Style Combat, But Is That Enough?
I think given the generally positive reviews of the community and the low price of the game, I will still give this one a shot and purchase it
