@Johnno137426 The problem isn't that porting is too difficult or expensive, but rather that it eats into the earnings of the arcade version. Arcade operators grew increasingly wary of ports after getting burned on so many fighting games in the late '90s/early 2000s.
As soon as you said "when arcade gaming still played a significant role in the video game industry," I tuned out. Not sure why every major gaming publication has a bias against the still-thriving arcade industry.
