@Pastellioli I feel like finding the positives is quite easy, but there are less greater positives, and more lesser negatives, I don't want to give you a task but if you want to hear more on my view I advice you read my 2 replies above this one.
It's easy to look only at the negatives, especially for most humans, but we're not able to stop this, first of all, and second of all, it is here, and people stepping away from using it makes it all seem even more like a crime than it actually is.
I think some world wide laws on the matter would do great, some more clarity from the creators, and lastly a way how you can decide what images specifically are allowed to be used. Then again, they would be allowed to use finished products of mine, but I can only say yes or no completely, so sucks to be them, they don't give themselves the option to use some of my stuff.
Everything can be used poorly and I am not blind sighted to the negatives, but I don't see using generative A.I. as theft, because taking inspiration from someone else is literally what our brains do to make anything. It's incredibly hard for our brains to imagine how anything would look we don't know and it requires all, absolutely all of our strongest strengths to imagine anything truly new. A.I. is doing the same, it is literally based on how our brain works. It's basically the same just simplified. Want proof that we are the same? Imagine a new color. You can't. You don't know it. They exist though. Imagine how a creature from outer space could actually look like, I'm sure you either think of a gray human with big eyes or something else stereotypical, but they probably wouldn't look anything like us. Struggle to envision them? Well simply because: you don't know them.
Imagine a cartoon cat. Even if it's a new design you came up with, I'm sure it has some influence from the likes of Garfield, Lackadaisy, some other cartoons or heck, it probably "stole", how maybe your own pet cat (if you have one) would look.
This is exactly how A.I. works. According to that logic Star Wars is theft because they didn't invent laser guns probably, or space ships that look suspiciously similar to normal airplanes at times.
Do you get where I'm getting at?
Anywho sorry for the rant, though I hope to learn you something of my view.
When you use it, just use it in a human, normal way, don't say you made it, use it for inspiration, whatever, as long as you don't publish it and say you made it, how could that be wrong? I don't see anything wrong in this situation.
@RupeeClock I one hundred percent agree! I would gladly help them, if they weren't so crummy and hidden about it. I feel like them doing this only scares people away more.
@GOmar yes, because to me every single medium, including A.I., is just a tool, a medium, to do art. They can all equally be used for good and bad. And no I am honestly not old enough to have witnessed the "birth of Wikipedia," but I have close relatives who did. I should have clarified that. Then again, any art is always proportionally very much based on other people's art. I don't see why that is okay but you draw the line at the computer doing it for you.
I allow people to get inspired off of my work, they can still copy clone it exactly and say it's theirs, and again, A.I. could theoretically sometimes make this easier, but if you want the world to move on you're going to have to accept the bad, which definitely exists, but is not at all as big as people make it out to be, as it doesn't create a new problem, it just makes an already existing one bigger.
Lastly, and probably most importantly, I had no clue this option to opt out was only available in the EU. That is not good in my opinion. It should be blatantly obvious that it would be available everywhere. Me personally I would opt in with my art, if they weren't so hidden about it's use and we're fair and open about it.
@Pastellioli I managed to easily opt out of the Instagram thing actually by simply... Telling them to lol, on both my accounts. But then again you can go equally evil things with Photoshop. It's also being abused. Imo people need to get over the fact that everything has a negative side, I'm student Digital Arts and we literally learn how to use it and how not to use it properly without being disrespectful towards other artists. These tools are extremely beneficial, just like Photoshop, but also just like Photoshop, can be used for illegal activities just as much.
Heck back when Wikipedia launched there was a huge backlash that "people would never have to think and do research for themselves anymore." This scenario keeps happening and it's getting annoying
A.I. can genuinely "move creativity forward." I'm student 3D animation and it's all about how you use it. I can make something with the help of A.I. as a tool from which the end result is just as much mine as it would have been without, it just saved me a third of the time. What we make is also 99% or something based on what others create, reinterpreted. As long as you don't take A.I. art and use it for the final product (besides in very specific scenarios where it actually is somewhat cool) it is essentially just A.I. doing days, if not weeks of brainstorming and data collection for you. Else artists look at each others work and get inspired none the less, it doesn't change anything. Just give it your own spin.
Now just to clarify I think this situation is copyright violation or whatever too, I just wanted to say this about your "yuck" statement which is 100% false.
I wouldn't mind a SMO2, but I very much prefer the liniar Mario 3D games, like the Galaxy, 3D Land and World series. Though IF SMO2 happens, I hope they design it to feel less like 'oh hey here is a totally unrelated random thing now do stuff with it', it's not great game design to just keep throwing stuff at the player, even though I find that Odyssey does it exceptionally well. But I would definitly prefer something totallly new, Like Bowsers Fury or another Galaxy, purly because I cannot imagine how pretty a Mario Galaxy brand new for the Switch or the next gen Nintendo console.

@RupeeClock super true
Re: AI Generator Scraped YouTube Videos Without Permission, Including Nintendo's
@NintonicGamer because A.I. isn't bad, it's how they use it that is bad.

I'm saying nothing but 5 Sonic Lego sets just possibly got leaked so there is that!
