Re: Mario & Luigi Has a Dreamy Japanese Chart Debut, Wii U Hardware Sales Drop by a Third

Dark_Link

This is not unexpected. I have never played Pikmin but I plan to buy this game when I get the Wii U later this year. From what I read, it's a great series but that it's somewhat of a niche title. Wii U will get a hardware boost again when it releases in Europe on Friday and again in North America in August. The Wii U will gain momentum throughout the year with Nintendo's steady release of new games starting with Wonderful 101, Sonic, Zelda and some third party support. In a way it's good that Nintendo staggered the release dates for Pikmin 3 to give them a continued hardware boost in different regions until the other games come out.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About the Famicom / NES

Dark_Link

Wow the NES. I still remember getting this on my 7th birthday in 1987. I will never forget it. I got Rob, the gun, Gyromite, Super Mario Bros and Dunk Hunt. No gaming experience will ever top the day I first played these games. All we would talk about at school was Super Mario Bros. I remember later on my godfather brought me thi gold game, we all know what this is. I could not believe how great it was to explore anywhere you wanted, metroid came after. The NES saved gaming, things we take for granted now all started from the NES to even the controllers we use. It may not be the best console from a game stand point but its the greatest because it saved video games and it's the most influential by far!

Re: Just 3% of All Ubisoft's Sales Came From Wii U in Q2 2013

Dark_Link

@Squiggle55 Games like Splinter Cell, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed and Batman Origins. Those are big time third party games that the Wii U is going to get. Future third party in my opinion hugely depends on how well these games sell on the Wii U. Achievement system doesn't really interest me as much as others, that's just me. For me, did I enjoy I playing the game but I see your point of view as well. My point is if anyone wants more third party support on the Wii U than buy the games I mentioned above. If they see Nintendo owners are buying these games, Ubisoft and other third party developers will jump back aboard. Isn't that what we want?

Re: Iwata: We Are To Blame For Poor Wii U Sales

Dark_Link

@Trainer_DJ Iwata seems like a real cool guy and based on articles I have read it seems people in the industry feel the same way. However, as the CEO you are the leader of the company and it's his job to make sure that any hardware launch has the software to back it up. He should have ensured that the Wii U had 2 major IP's ready for launch. Also he needs to do a better job at securing 3rd party support and if not that use some of the money Nintendo has in reserves and pay for some third party exclusives. The wonderful 101 and Bayonetta is a great start but they need more of that. Also two of these four titles should have been ready at launch: smash, Mario kart, Mario 3D and Zelda. I promise you if they had two of those titles ready at launch or bundle one of those games with the Wii U than the Wii U would be selling like hotcakes right now. Iwata needs to be more aggressive and be ready to attach instead of always trying to play catch up.

Re: Kingdom Hearts III Highly Unlikely To Appear On Wii U

Screw Square!! They forgot it was being on the NES and SNES that they got their start with the Final Fantasy games. Nintendo fans, me included are big fans of these type of games, they fit the Nintendo crowd. I expected Sony to get it obviously but for XBone to get it and not the Wii U is ridiculous. They would have made a lot of money releasing it on the Wii U but obviously there is a reason their business is in the toilet because of poor management. I will not purchase the PS4 for this game, I will play it over a friend that ends up getting it. Screw you Square.

Re: Nintendo's Charlie Scibetta Explains the Benefits of Developers Running the Company

I love the enthusiasm and it always shows on nintendo games but Iwata completely botched the launch of the Wii U console. They should have had two of their system sellers ready by launch and that is just poor planning on Iwata's part. If they had 2 of these 4 games ready such as Mario Kart, Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario 3D world the Wii U would not be in the position it's in right now.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Exposed the Strains of Nintendo's Development Workload

Dark_Link

This article is why I have been saying that Nintendo needs to get more software developers. Actually one of the posters responded to one my comments on the Retro Donkey Kong article about Nintendo purchasing a Development house that will house 1500 people by the end of this year or the beginning of next year, which they need ASAP and there are few links showing this. Obviously is not too mainstream because Nintendo has always been a private company when it comes to announcements. The problem with a lack of third party support it's putting pressure to release more games and they just don't have the manpower to do this and still give us that great Nintendo product. If you add 1500 more developers you now can bring some of their other IP's and designate some teams for new IP's.

Re: Retro Studios Working on "One Major Project at a Time"

@Lasermaster123 Nintendo has always been a very private company, so I'm not surprised there. This is great news as I said before, thanks for digging this stuff up . Remember an article posted on Nintendolife on how Miyamoto has to see a reason for a new IP and as great and legendary as he is I still think that is hurting Nintendo from a hardcore gamer standpoint. That is where this new facility with all of these software developers will help out a lot! They can focus on reviving old IP's and bring new fresh IP's to the table.

Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order Looks Set To Skip Wii U

Dark_Link

@Rafie I agree with you on the marketing part. Iwata really screwed up the launch for this console. Nintendo's mistake is the marketing was horrible, most people didn't know what the Wii U was even a new console and they didn't have any of their big hitting games ready at launch. Now if Nintendo had Smash, Mario Kart, Mario 3D or Zelda to launch with the system or 2 of the 4 of these games they would not be in this situation they are in right now. That was a hige mistake by Nintendo.

Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order Looks Set To Skip Wii U

Dark_Link

@Lasermaster123 X looks awesome!!! I have to admit when Nintendo lost Final Fantasy to Sony I was somewhat devastated because I love Final Fantasy, I still to these day have not played FF7. That is why I am excited about X because it looks better than the latest FF games that have been coming out. I can't wait to play X!

Re: Retro Studios Working on "One Major Project at a Time"

Dark_Link

@Lasermaster123 Now this is great news!!! Anybody who is a Nintendo fan is a fan because they just make great and fun games. Unfortunately it takes them a very long time to release these games because they want to ensure the games are great. With a lack of third party support they need more resources to make more games at one time. So 1500 more developers is the stuff what Nintendo needs. For example if they had this development studio in place already they could have assigned one team, star fox, one team Metroid, another team a new IP etc and than we would not be as frustrated with Retro making Donkey Kong, we could appreciate it because it's just another great game coming out. Nintendo needs to get on that asap and put them to work. Plus those fresh minds might come up with some really cool games.

Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order Looks Set To Skip Wii U

Dark_Link

@Caryslan While I agree with that, the PS4 and XBone have not came out yet and Microsoft already alienated a ton of people with their big brother stuff. I personally don't think it's a small customer base as Nintendo has not had great third party since the NES and SNES days which is why those consoles were so great, they had the classic Nintendo games and great third party games. I think there is something going behind the scenes that is happening here or some sort of bias. But thanks for the nice reply I am just a huge Nintendo fan.

Re: Retro Studios Working on "One Major Project at a Time"

Dark_Link

Obviously you buy a Nintendo system for their First party games as I do as well however, since these games take so long to make it makes it absolutely imperative that Iwata do whatever is necessary to get more third party support or hire more developers to create more games at one time. Also get involved with those indie developers and put them to work. They need more games to come out much quicker.

Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order Looks Set To Skip Wii U

Dark_Link

"When asked about each platform individually, Björk simply said "no" to Wii U. It appears Nintendo's system is neither here nor there according to MachineGames." What kind of BS response is that??? Wii U is more powerful than the XBOX360 and PS3 and yet they are getting the games and the WII U is not. SMH

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Wii U Lineup Makes Commercial Sense

Dark_Link

My first post on this site although I read the articles here all the time. I thought Nintendo's list of games were good enough, safe but good. When I first saw the new Super Mario 3D World I was like disappointed but after letting it set in a little it's actually growing on me and looks like it will a lot of fun as Mario games usually are. They might have released this really fast to increase sales for the Wii U to buy them some time to make an Epic Mario. Donkey Kong looks great but I was disappointed with that because I was expecting something that was not a 2D platform game. If they were working on two games and that was one of them than great. I know everyone is mentioning Nintendo's first party games which are impressive but they also have Sonic Lost World coming out, Rayman and a few others from Ubisoft and call of duty will be on the console. this is all this year so Nintendo has some great stuff coming out. They need to do what they need to do make platinum games a developer for just them, because they give Nintendo a different type of game that they need.
