@Ooyah no, "is lead" is just about never right. It could be "in the lead," though. I once had a professor who was making a convoluted point via group chat about choice and how a student "chose" to misspell the past tense of lead wrong as "led." Everyone in the chat was confused until we realized the professor didn't know how to spell it. He thought "lead," as in the metal, was the same spelling as led, the past tense of lead (as in leader). Its probably just a mistake, like my own poor professor.
