I am the designer of Hazewalker. We have made the decision to cancel the Kickstarter.
While we do have a team with industry veterans on-board, and while we have made tremendous progress since we began working on Hazewalker last year, we realize that our playable prototype (pre-alpha) is not at the stage it needs to be at in order to impress players and backers.
We have read your feedback, and understand that we simply aren't making a game that folks are excited about, and that's certainly not good enough for me.
I want to thank you all personally for your critical feedback. We're going to take a step back, and move forward with a plan that involves a lot more communication with our player base, playtesting, and iteration, and waiting "until it's ready". Thanks for reading, and thank you to Nintendo Life for posting this article.
@Kirk - This footage is rather old; darkness and light will play a major role in interior spaces, specifically as a means to take the shield away from the player temporarily in order to switch things up and threaten the player. There will be a wide range on interior and exterior environments on display.
@3MonthBeef - Like I mentioned, this was the "low hanging fruit" of what we plan to do; we will be planning an experience around the second screen that will enhance the game beyond what others have tried before. If you have any ideas, throw them our way; we're always listening. Thanks!

Re: Hazewalker Kickstarter Campaign Launches With $100,000 Goal
Everyone,
I am the designer of Hazewalker. We have made the decision to cancel the Kickstarter.

Hey, lead dev here!
We posted a work-in-progress image along with the announcement here: http://i.imgur.com/MB7zK3u.jpg
We'll be posting more details about how we will interact with the Wii U's hardware capabilities as the Kickstarter approaches on our site.
Thank you everyone for your support, even in this (very early!) stage of development.
