@EngieBengie Are you still here? Good!

I wrote the whole release list and you only see the crap games LOL. Don't worry, I will remove the garbage for you so you read the rest:

Assassin's Creed III
Batman: Arkham City — Armored Edition
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Darksiders II
FIFA 13
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge
Skylanders Giants
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition
Transformers: Prime – The Game
Warriors Orochi 3
ZombiU

So yes, Nintendo already tried with a strong catalogue of third parties but obviously that didn't work. Did PS4 have more third party games or better ones at his launch?

About a gaming PC, it will cost less to update any PC than purchasing a power outdated PS4, which by the way is updating into PS4.5. Well, not really updating, you are required to purchase a new system...

For real true gamers, PC+Wii-U is the perfect combination. I'm able to play your Dark Souls III, GTAV, The Witcher III, or any other third party gem without missing the Wii-U fresh exclusives. Most people is into smartphone playing and it doesn't mean that's the best way to play LOL

About Sony and Nintendo, so you have been a couple of days searching to prove you are right and you ended with a 2 year old post about Nintendo value at China market release day. Congratulations!

It was not so hard to find:

Right column, start to read from "revenue".

Or just take a look to the operating stock market price:

Just Dance 4
New Super Mario Bros. U
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

Skylanders Giants
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition
Transformers: Prime – The Game
Warriors Orochi 3
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013
ZombiU

Nintendo did try but obviously it didn't work.

About better Wii-U versions, analysts are who say it. Besides the 'inventory management", gamepad add to those games: 1 more player for cooperative Rayman, hacking system and other puzzles for Deus Ex Human Revolution, and asymetric multiplayer mode for Zombi U.

If exclusive games is the reason to keep you playing Xbox-360 or PS3 games, then Wii-U is more relevant than Xbox One or PS4. I already can play most of One or PS4 catalogue in my computer and with better specs. Can you say the same about Wii-U catalogue?

Well, anyways you are happy enjoying your PS4 and I'm happy enjoying my Wii-U. So I don't even know why are you whining here...

About the rest, everything else you mention was subjetive. So once again, just a matter of tastes we don't share

And please show me where you read Nintendo is a bigger company than Sony.

Re: Wii U "Disappointing To Everybody" But We're Excited About Nintendo NX, Says GameStop CEO

Castellon-games

@EngieBengie Well then I guess that's just a matter of taste:

I think what makes a console relevant with the pass of time is the replay value and Wii-U have tons of it.

Take a look to past generation. Sure everyone was blaming Wii due the lack of power, but if you are into superior graphics, why bother playing again anything from PS3/Xbox-360 if that's an outdated generation? On the other hand I'm yet playing rail shooters, wii sports/resort, or wiimote party games with my couple or when friends comes home. They even ask me to pick up the Wii-U when we gather elsewhere. We play Wii-U software most of time but sometimes we also play some of those games from a past generation and yet we have a good time. However no one of my friends, get back to their Xbox 360 or PS3 because some are playing One/PS4/PC with their better graphics, or some are no longer into gaming because they have no time nowadays to spend in full story games. And that's the formula for most of PS4 or Xbox One games: once game is completed, you are done, go and buy the next looking better one. The same formula that Nintendo was mostly using in N64 or GameCube times. And I don't like that formula, so maybe is just a matter of taste.

To my taste, both N64 and GameCube have some games with good replay value such as Mario Kart 64 and Smash Bros. But the best version of Smash Bros is Wii-U one. If you enjoyed Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS is the same but with much more content. Even after Goldeneye, the same team did Time Splitters Future Perfect, a more actual FPS with a more perfect split screen mode where you could even create your own battle stages, and with a better looking campaign which you can fully complete in cooperative with a friend. Sure it didn't have the same impact than Goldeneye had for its time, but if you play both nowadays, you will realize Future Perfect is far better than Goldeneye, the same than any actual FPS with online mutliplayer is now much better than Future Perfect.

So sure the games I mentioned are not AAA titles, but does it mean they are less re-playable?

The asymmetric party play of Nintendoland, or Wii Party U gamepad modes, the asymmetric cooperative of Affordable Space Adventures, Kirby, or Star Foxes, the gamepad use in games like Splatoon, Game & Wario, Project Zero, Mario Maker, Art Academy, the multiplayer madness of Runbow or Chompy Chomp 9 player battles, or all the 5 player games thanks to the gamepad, the split screen games with the welcome of an additional unsplit screen of gamepad like Call of Duty Black Ops II or Sonic & All Stars Racing... In my opinion they are the games that will keep people playing Wii-U once in a while after new generations because without gamepad no new consoles will be able to offer a similar gameplay experience. Bayonetta 2, Zeldas, or any 'relevant' game that could be released on Wii-U like a new Metroid Prime, all them will be better in future better consoles, so why bother playing the old ones in a future?

About games like Rayman Legends, Zombi-U or Deus Ex: Human Revoultion that you mention are not Wii-U exclusives, remember they got the best version in Wii-U thanks to the GamePad use.

Yes Dark Souls 3, despite the dark atmosphere which personally I hate, is amazing looking for lot of people now, but years will pass and then a Dark Souls 4 will be released or hundreds of games in a next generation will look much better than Souls 3, so with time it will become irrelevant after all. And yes, I don't like Dark Souls 3 or Darksiders II, but I prefer The Witcher III over Zelda. Maybe you are not agree due your avatar... just a matter of taste, that's it.

Remember that Nintendo is not a so huge company as Sony or Microsoft are. So I'm afraid you are asking the impossible if you ask for a relevant console based on technically AAA games. They tried when Wii-U was released with the best release catalogue for this generation, however it is more than proved that good games is not enough for sales. I'm glad Nintendo took a different path since NDS or Wii. I'm getting more fun with different ways to play than what PS4 or Xbox One is offering: games I can play with better gfx in my computer. If that's your idea of a relevant console, then I think computer is the winner platform this generation. Try to see the resemblance in repeating AAA gaming market nowadays: Even Sony is releasing an updated PS4.5 soon just as anyone can update their PCs to play better. IMO Nintendo is the only fresh air for a gaming industry becoming a bored pc industry.

So I know Wii-U was a fail in sales but did N64 or GameCube sold better than the competence? They were however systems technically superior with good games for its time. NDS and Wii are the systems that gave breath to Nintendo economy. Wii is the only Nintendo home console that sold better than other companies since SNES times and it lacked both AAA games or tech awesomeness. Nintendo may succeed again with NX if they do something fresh and new or maybe not, but if they just manage to create a technically superior console, then Sony or Microsoft will end doing it better so Nintendo would implode without a different strategy.

Re: Wii U "Disappointing To Everybody" But We're Excited About Nintendo NX, Says GameStop CEO

Castellon-games

@EngieBengie

Touch screen, asymetric control and off-tv, doesn't imply games using it. In fact you cited some examples of good games not using it.

The advantage in that point is that if you like traditional control then you have good games to play in a traditional way and if you are bored about always the same formulas, then you have the chance to try something new with gamepad.

I see you are not a fan of asymetric gameplay, if you don't play multiplayer with friends in a same console, why would you even bother at all? But it is really welcome for most people who do and are tired about the same party games. Adding 1 more player for most games and the asymetric gameplay for games such as Zombi-U, Nintendoland, Star Fox Guard, Affordable Space Adventures, Wii Party U, Nihilumbra, Kirby, Runbow gamepad mode, Mario Party Bowser mode, Tank Tank Kong mode... to me was one of the few fresh things for this generation.

Yes not everybody is into multiplayer mayhem or complete a game in cooperative with your couple or family and I'm aware about PS4 or Xbox One having a better online, but the quote you took was about me replying someone saying N64 or GameCube was better, that's the reason because I mentioned online, not as a comparation with other systems. Anyway some Wii-U games like Splatoon, Mario Kart or Runbow are yet very enjoyable online.

Castellon-games

@Yorumi, I'm sure you will reply... But my time doesn't deserve to waste it here. I'm now going back to my Wii-U. Again

Sure you feel N64 or GameCube was better, but the point is GameStop man says Wii-U disappointed to gamers and that's not true. Wii-U disappointed a market looking elsewhere, which yet thinks Wii-U is just a new controller for the old Wii. However most of the lucky owners of a Wii-U are very happy with it and the support Nintendo did despite the low sales. That's the thing wrong with GameStop speech and the reason making a lot of users here writting about it.

Re: Wii U "Disappointing To Everybody" But We're Excited About Nintendo NX, Says GameStop CEO

Castellon-games

@Yorumi Common, go and compare psn prices with this: https://www.humblebundle.com/friends-of-nintendo-3ds-wiiu

I'm just mentioning multiplayer when comparing it to N64 or NGC? Ok I'm copy-pasting myself again:

Wii-U is the system with more exclusives for this generation + touch control, asymetric gameplay or off-tv only gamepad can offer + games with the original wii remote gameplay instead of traditional control + online play + an e-shop with good quality games for a very fair price instead of the steal price of GameCube or N64 times + a whole bunch of retro style, the one that N64 or GameCube were missing to center in 3D graphics that are nowadays just plain bored and outdated gfx + the huge Wii catalogue, backwards compatibilty that N64 or GameCube hadn't + the multiplayer mayhem no other console ever had

Yes, the order is now changed, maybe you go farther than line 2 this time

Re: Wii U "Disappointing To Everybody" But We're Excited About Nintendo NX, Says GameStop CEO

Castellon-games

@Yorumi No sales? There are sales every week on the e-shop and just now you can get a whole bunch of games worth hundreds for few bucks thanks to the Nintendo Humble Bundle. So I don't get your point comparing N64 times prices with nowadays... I think you don't own a Wii-U or you are not into it really if you don't know about e-shop sales.

Could you play GBA by default in your GameCube or it required an expensive weird accesory few stores sold?

And by the way, Wii is a full home system, not a handheld one
and yes Wii yet increases the multiplayer mayhem with 8 player gems like Tetris Party Deluxe, Bomberman Blast or Driift.

If you are a lone player and like N64 and GameCube titles, besides the Wii-U ones with Wii backwards compatibility you can also play Metroid Prime saga, Kirby saga, Mario Galaxy games, The Last Story, rail shooters in its best like Dead Space, House of the Dead saga, or Sin & Punishment games, Punch Out, Wario Ware, Blast Works, Boom Blox, Mad World, Muramasa, No More Heroes 2, Metal Slug, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Project Zeroes, Zeldas, etc.

Yes, besides nostalgia, Nintendo 64 was defining genres etc but those times are gone, all is defined and improved now.

Re: Wii U "Disappointing To Everybody" But We're Excited About Nintendo NX, Says GameStop CEO

Castellon-games

@Yorumi Could you tell me 50 GameCube exclusives? Because I could tell you more than 50 Wii-U exclusives.

About N64, yes it was good and 4 players was also good with gems such as Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Smash Bros 64 or even Micromachines 64 with its 8 player mode.

But compare the multiplayer mayhem with the Wii-U one: Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Runbow, Nintendo Land, Art of Balance, Wii Party U, TNT Racers, Chompy Chomp Chomp, PictoParty, Spin the Bottle... Half of them you can play up to 8-9 players in a same console. Much others are for 5 players with a genuine asymetric multiplayer mode, and most of Wii-U games with a story mode features cooperative mode. How many GameCube or N64 games had cooperative?

Wii-U have the huge Wii catalogue, backwards compatibilty that N64 or GameCube hadn't + the multiplayer mayhem no other console ever had + a whole bunch of retro style, the one that N64 or GameCube were missing to center in 3D graphics that are nowadays just plain bored and outdated gfx + games with the original wii remote gameplay instead of traditional control + offtv gameplay and asymetric gameplay or touch control only gamepad can offer + online play + an e-shop with good quality games for a very fair price instead of the steal price of GameCube or N64 times.

So yes, in fact I'm now even more sure to say that Wii-U is my favorite console system from SNES times.
