Re: Talking Point: Fire Emblem: Awakening - The Big Casual Mode Debate

I play classic mode, but I reset when someone dies. I just hate it when you saved someone or invested a lot of time and effort in upgrading them to see them die. One gets involved with the characters. Me being the tactician of the sheperds also gives me the feeling of being responsible for these people. I don't want to send them to their deaths. That is very clever gamedesign.

I downloaded it this morning and played it in the bus. It's kinda fun. But tough as well. At stage 4 at the moment.

I think Nintendo is the one who tries it's best to do something new and isn't afraid to push their more risky franchises as well (Fire Emblem). There is also a shift that gamers are more willing to try the Japanese games that didn't come out in the west before. See what happended with Xenoblade. Nintendo once united the hardcore gamer and the casual gamer with the Wii and DS. The times are changing again. Those markets are being pulled apart again. Anyway I don't need the same shooters on the WiiU or 3DS as we see on the Xbox360 and PS3. I want to play Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey and a new Advance Wars.

It's actually good to have some competition. I'm a great Nintendofan but a monopoly wouldn't do anyone any good. Now that Persona 4 is here I will also buy a Vita. I have played lots of good games on the PSP and PS2 and PS3 as well. War of the lions anyone?
