I really wanted to like this game but I felt bored by the second half of it.
I bought it after loving the demo. The art is incredible and the story seemed to have the premises to be epic.
But instead I found it pretty underwhelming. I was able to win any battle by just smashing buttons without any strategy, without any real need to level up.
The story felt rushed too, I didn't get attached to any character, and even after big events that should have some meaning, I felt nothing.
Everything is too accessible, any "hidden secret" is basically shown in the map.
My score
Graphics: 10
Gameplay: 5
Music: 2 (Seriously, loops that last ten seconds at most, become a torture real soon)
Honestly if it was a pay to buy system, where I own the ooooold games I reclaim while I'm subscribed (like stadia), I think it would make sense. But this seems, no, actually is a cash grab.
One thing that all these news outlets forgot to mention, including PC gamer and Kotaku, is that you can run an emulator in a completely legit way, if you own both a switch and a copy of the game you want to run. Yuzu emulator's own FAQ points out a detailed process about how to basically move your own content from your switch to the PC, just for emulation purposes. I'm surprised that this was left out, as it makes the content posted by those magazines incredibly suspicious to me.
