Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More

Battoot

I have experienced both Wii Sports and Switch Sports, and most people on this site have experienced both in some way or another, however, Nintendo keeps new gamers and casual gamers in mind, those who haven't experienced Wii sports or even motion control in this simple yet satisfying way.

Some games are more intuitive than others with no need for tutorials such as Bowling, Tennis and Badminton, so those were easier to experience, while Soccor, Chambara, and Volleyball needed more patience to get over their tutorials, and those were OK with experienced gamers.

The reaction I got from the 15+ people who tried it willingly and also from those who were reluctant to try it was that it is a great experience and that all asked where can we get this? Most of them were not aware of the Switch as a console, and they left with big smiles and multiple times thanking me for letting them experience this, and how much they had fun.

The people who tried it were from little kids to above 40 years old. One father was telling his excited kid who owns a PS4 we can get you this for your next birthday.

This game will attract new people with no previous experience in gaming or Nintendo. I expect Nintendo will support it further down the line once it generates some data.

I was actually intrigued by this title being co-developed by Nintendo, but like most people, I thought it was not a sure purchase at full price, so I followed it on dekudeals.com until it got at 50% off last November. I bought it then at $25 which was a good opportunity. I kept it in my backlog until recently this month I started playing it and I agree with the review here, and still enjoying it. I started handheld, and then more recently been trying docked, since this is my usual mode of play, and to my surprise, it is not bad docked either. I would recommend not judging from the demo since the learning curve takes time to get comfortable, and once I got the blackbelt, I went back to repeat the early levels which helped me gain more experience and feel less pressure with the regular flow of the game. It is a very nice polished experience and you don't have to keep playing it for long hours or only focusing on it, but rather have to be part of your regular playing routine. It brings joy and has some funny moments, with well-designed feedback on its mechanics. You can easily live without it, but it can be a nice palate cleanser.

I preordered the game and got to try it on day one.
I have to say the whole experience felt like a real commercial, we could have easily be filmed during the play session for another commercial.
The adjusting difficulty option was very impressive and effective.
The sound effects and animations were so well done and kept the mood pleasant and friendly.

Great party game and not a mobile one whatsoever.

We played by spinning the wheel most and in some instances by choosing the challenges manually. Spinning the wheel was more fun.

I later tried the practice and then ghost challenges. Both were fun and satisfying, but the game shines with multiple players, from two to 4.

I still haven't tried the touch-mode.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Quirky Creativity Hasn't Always Paid Off On Switch, But It Matters

Nintendo Labo was the reason I got a Switch in the first place. The moment I saw the ad I said "Shut up and take my money!" I am a proud owner of all 4 Kits, Mario and Luigi Live Circuits, and of course the Ring Fit Adventure.

I love the physical+digital exploration that Nintendo keeps working on since I have a special interest in physical games design and recently in digital games design as well.

Nintendo is the most innovative gaming company, and they focus on creating new experiences, and new ways to play and have fun.

If you always appeal to the masses, that means you are being too safe, and not pushing forward to uncomfortable places.

No risk, no glory.
