Sorry if i am jumping in this conversation.
I think nintendo will support the original switch for a seven to eight years with their games after that it could be that nintedo will develop their games only for the new switch( that is if the new switch is successful).
Since the new switch will be quite more powerfull then the original switch third party games could come only to the new switch( RE remake, NIer, madden etc..). It could be that these game will be available to the original switch through streaming.

Now a little bit of my speculation of the new" Switch business model" :
It is becoming increasingly clear why nintendo was talking about a 9 to 10 year cycle for the switch, because it seems that nintendo will not follow the tradition console generations of the past and it´s cycle of seven years.
The ten year cycle of the switch will divided between the original switch and the switch 1.5.
The switch 1.5 will be completely backwards compatible with the original switch.
The original switch will be supported by nintendo first party developed games for circa seven years after that
new nintendo games will be developed only for the new switch.

I am a little disappointed that practically every website or youtuber missed the two most important news from that thread that make it clear what kind of upgrade we are talking about.

One insider, and one developer confirmed in the thread:
1- that it will have a new type of chip ( no more tegra X family)
2- it will have DLSS

Having these two points confirmed, people in the thread with good compurer and tech knowledge, came to the fallowing to conslusions:
3--> from the second point to have DLSS enabled and running , the cpu of the new switch has to have a certain power( computational capacity) or it will not run at all, and this power is similar to Xbox One. The Power Profile of the new switch while docked, when it can access even more power profile, and with DLSS running will make the new switch a machine capable of running games with a power between a PS4 and the PS4 PRO.
How close is it going to be the PS4 Pro people there still do not know because they can only guess how much RAM, Bandwith etc...the new switch will have.
Disappointing reporting on this also becuse all the fact are very well summerized by the OP on that thread on resetera, you can all go and see it.

Ahaha You are right nintendo always underdelivers in tech power.
I am still crefully optimistic though, we will see...the DLSS tech just seemes so Nintendo, not applying brute power but ingenuity to solve a problem, and it is developed by their partner in crime Nvidia.
I hope we will get both a nice surprise.

Yes, existing games would have to be patched.
It is intresting to note that the unreal engine has the DLSS support included in a recent update.

You are right if the premise is that the new switch will NOT have DLSS 2.0.
The thing is many rumors do indicate that the new swicth will have this DLSS capability, and i think the apparent nintendo request for 4K ready games confirms this( Fact also reported by this bloomberg journalist by the way).
DLSS means certainly a new chip and a new GPU for the switch as the tensorcores necessary for the dlss upcasling are part of the APU.
If you add to this that it is known that Nvidia already has production lines for 8nm chips with samsung and is moving next year to even smaller chips many people presume that Nintendo will inherit these production lines, plus an 8 nm Chip also means less energy consuption adressing your fear.
On resetera some people predicted, even before this leak, that Smasung will provide many different parts for the new swicth as nintendo could order many parts from them and get better bulk prices and also simplify logistcis and assembly.

Guys this is not a rumor, it is a report from two Bloomberg reporters, one familiar with samsung and the korean tech market, the other familar with the japanese tech scene( that, by the way, reported that sony is downsizing it´s japan studio more then one year ago):

4K capability is almost certainlyobtained via DLSS 2.0 and that means new CPU and new GPU( DLSS cannot happen via dock!) as well as new nvidia architecture.
This is going to be a significat upgrade: think SWICTH 1.5 and it explains why nintendo talks about the nitendo switch family and about a 10 year cycle of the console !

Ooh...could this be the the reveal of the rumored FE Echoes remaster ? Or is it just a starter?
