@Bizzyb The track is in the other versions, but they're removing it sometime in 2027. I would assume that since the Switch version is on a totally different release schedule to everything else they'd rather just leave it out. One fewer version to strip content from later down the line.
For starters, charging for the new characters isn't a problem by itself, but I feel they should have mentioned that they'd be paid DLC at some point in the process. Even the blog post announcing their release doesn't mention the ability to purchase them at all. From how the update reads it is incredibly reasonable to expect to download the update, boot up the game, and play as the new characters immediately. This is entirely a communication issue.
Then you have the two missing stages. For "New Dark, A Future Unfolding" I could have waved it away as being a performance hog; it has a lot of background characters and little details. But "In the Name of Peace" is the complete opposite, it's one of my go-to stages for both being colourful and performing excellently.
The missing BGM kinda makes sense, what with the licensing issues surrounding it, but still stings to not have it even for a limited time like the other editions of the game.
So, great update, better late then never, but it comes with a big ol' set of questions for ASW that I have a feeling will never be answered.
As a lover of the Xbox Series D-Pad I'm definitely interested in this option, though it'd likely be more for my Steam Deck than my Switch thanks to the button layout. I might look into getting one or two of these.
Interesting that they state that the replacement physical buttons for a Switch layout can be purchased separately but also don't seem to actually stock them yet. Bit of an oversight if you ask me, considering they're boasting Switch 2 wakeup capability.
@Mqblank Ooh, it might not change your mind but they recently lowered their postage rates to the UK. I've noticed them lower to less than half of what they used to be. Seems to be a pretty recent thing and I don't think they've made an official announcement about it.
I'm happy to see that the mass criticism had an impact, but itch.io only is still cutting out all console owners that don't get the physical. I'd like to see them change course even more radically.
Usually when you missed a limited print run, you're left to a terrible aftermarket or just settling for getting the game digitally.
Under this system, if you miss a limited print run you're left to a terrible aftermarket. No digital option. Pay scalpers or never play the game ever. This is going to end up breeding contempt for both Super Rare and any developer that choose to partner with them under this Shorts system.
This is pure FOMO exploitation and they absolutely know it.
It's probably worth mentioning that the developer is currently thinking up a method of getting notable workshop content added to the game officially. It's hard to say whether this will take the form of free updates, individual DLCs or big DLC bundles and nobody should purchase the game early if it's the lack of workshop that's keeping them away. Definitely worth keeping an eye on though, if the lack of workshop is keeping you away for now.
Also mentioned by Dan Fornace is that a future physical release is a possibility, so if you're a physical game collector this is one you can hold back on for now (unless you love to double dip.)

Yeah this is such a mixed bag.

I've played through this on PC and can confirm it's delightful.

Yeah this sucks.
